During the course of the show Reality Sandwich, host Paul Kangas would give his contact information, and send copies of news clippings, documents and cassette tapes. This is one of the gold label tapes that seems to be from January 1994.
Topics include the efforts to get healthcare legislation passed in America. Hillary Clinton had been appointed the overseer of the effort, and Kangas urged people to support her and get Single Payer.
An additional topic was the emerging information on the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King. The Memphis Commercial Appeal newspaper ran a series in 1993 which showed the US Army tracked Dr King and his family for 75 years, and that Green Berets were in Memphis at the time of his shooting.
Even more disturbing was the itemization of military hardware given to the police departments of American cities.

This is part two of the episode immediatly after host Paul Kangas read the Memphis Commercial Appeal article by Stephen Tompkins. The information he derived showed that the US Army had snipers in Memphis, tracking King, as they had tracked his family for 75 years.
Much of the show is spent on the character flaws of the people who allowed the killing to happen, and continue to silence the story.
Praise for US Rep Henry Gonzales' confidence in searching out the truth. Recognition is made of the hazard that President Clinton faces from the assassins, who remain free, and able to kill again.

Kimberly Carroll the media representative for the Toronto Vege Pride Parade joins the show to talk about their event as well as discuss this weeks topic, less of a news item and more of a discussion between Kevin, Kimberly and I about the state of politics when we have a class of people who are wealth and powerful whose only job description is that they are electable. We talk about the impact on the way decisions are made and relate this to the problems with the corporate media as well with Kimberlyâs help. At the end Kimberly talks about the popular subway campaign she started in Toronto that is now a national campaign called Why Love One? (and eat the other).
The most recent exciting updates on our Green Majority TV Project!
1. The filming of the Indiegogo commercial to raise money for video equipment will be June 1st between 4-5pm. Final details are being rolled out as they are confirmed but it should only take about 30 min and will be at Hart House in downtown Toronto.
2. We will have a new theme song custom designed for us as of next show! It will be produced by the amazing and talented Canadian world/folk superstar Alejandra Ribera.
3. The largest team that signs up to attend the commercial shoot (we want you as extraâs!) will win an amazing Steamwhistle prize pack (we like them because they are local, do awesome water conservation initiatives and have great beer)! 4. We will have a new logo and branding by next week as well. Once we have this set up we will be starting to sell Green Majority Swag! We will be offering clothing with our awesome new logo on it made by REPAIR THE WORLD, clothing made out of recycled plastic bottles and cutting room floor craps! (I already have a couple, they are also super comfortable and easy to wash).

On March 21, 1993 Stephen Tompkins wrote a five part series about the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King, alleging that the US Army had a team of snipers tailing him for months. He gave great detail and had documentary attribution, and the primary paper, the Memphis Commercial Appeal published all five parts. The Associated Press picked up the story, but only ran an overview.
Paul Kangas received a copy and this episode of Reality Sandwich is four months after the primary story was published.
There is great excitement in the reading, as the horrible details emerge with names, dates and places. Interesting details are included about J. Edgar Hoover's role and history.
Most people are still not aware of the US Army's role in the assassination of Dr King.

Cheryl interviews Henry Lowendorf about the military conversion bill in the Connecticut State Legislature (SB 619).
It passed in the state senate and is now waiting for a vote in the house.
Since this show aired the house took a vote on the bill:
Both houses of the CT General Assembly have now passed the bill calling for a Futures Commission that will investigate and propose how to move CT manufacturing from military to civilian production. Supporters of the bill beat back an amendment from the right wing that would have stripped the peace and environmental members from the Commission. The vote was an overwhelming 121 to15 with bi-partisan support. This bill was created in a collaboration between peace and labor. Now Governor Dan Malloy needs to sign the bill.
