Private hydro operations in B.C. killing fish

A Freedom of Information request filed by the Wilderness Committee has found more than 700 violations of the regulations that protect fish habitat. The non-compliance by private run-of-the-river operators is compounded by a lack of local oversight. Gwen Barlee is policy director with the Wilderness Committee.

Celebrating 25 years of no law on abortion

At the end of January 1988, the Supreme Court made a landmark ruling that decriminalized abortion. The Morgentaler decision, as it is known, has resulted in the absence of an abortion law in Canada. In 2013, there is still no law yet access is not universal across the country and the security of existing clinics is under threat. Carolyn Egan is with the Abortions Rights Coalition of Canada.
