Racism Gags Proffesor at Delaware State University

Dr. Jahi Issa was fired on August 17, 2012 from his position as Assistant Professor of History and Africana Studies at DSU. On March 1, 2012 student rally/protest against attacks on Black education, Dr. Issa was attacked by police and at the hospital was diagnosed with a separated shoulder and other medical injuries. At his hearing Police admit they had no probable cause to arrest him. Posters containing racial slurs, advocating lynching were distributed in the black community just prior to the student protest. Several weeks after the March 1 protest, Dr. Issa's former barber was found hanging on a tree in Dover.

After the latest tragic school violence in Newtown, Connecticut, Americans discussed gun control and how to prevent such acts. Deja Vu! What is the real solution? Providing more mental health services? Arming the teachers? Changing gun laws? Or changing the American consciousness?

She is one of the ultimate icons of the music world, and we're coming up on the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that took Patsy Cline. I love that big contralto voice of hers, which I always thought was pure rock at its heart. And in fact she did a bit of rockabilly in the 50s, but she was directed more toward torchy, almost cabaret material, especially near the end. Let's take some time to listen closely to that amazing voice, in salute and wonder.

Warning that the U.S. economy is still
"marked by mass unemployment, rising poverty, and declining wages." 350 prominent economists issued a
statement with the Campaign for America's Future that, "the fragile recovery is threatened by obsessive concern with cutting deficits that has infected both parties."
The economists' statement highlighted that drastic spending cuts adopted in a "grand bargain" aimed at avoiding sequestration could have such a contractionary impact on the still-fragile economy that the U.S. could join European countries in plunging into recession as a result of misguided austerity policies.
Debunking myths about the great white shark

The great white shark is an apex predator that plays a vital role in the world's ecosystems. While protected internationally, the shark is still threatened by finning, culling and illegal trophy hunting, problems compounded by the shark's slow breeding rate. I visited the White Shark Project, which runs a cage-diving company to raise funds and awareness about great white shark conservation in South Africa. While there is debate about the ethics of cage diving, this particular project plays a strong role in the local community and in promoting shark awareness.
