OCTOBER IS EVIL MONTH at "BOB's SLACKTIME FUNHOUSE, and this episode is dripping with such a magnitude of hellish evil that it needs a drip pan under it! Yes--tonight I'm serving up "The Evil Susies' Evil Show, or Two Twins for Sister Susie"!
While I hate being called "Sister Susie" (that "Reverend" is NAILED to the front of my name!), it was an irresistible temptation to give it a quirky subtitle, because THAT is what it's about: While Reverend Susie the Floozie is out of commission, the show gets delivered unto the tender mercies of Evil Susie, but this time she's got help--it turns out that the Flooze's evil twin has an evil twin of her own! There are TWO EVIL SUSIES at the helm! Can the FUNHOUSE survive this double- barreled onslaught of unholy wickedness? Can the seekers survive an hour of crazy preachers, Anthrax, Deadbolt, Thom Owen, Sodom, the Bran Flakes, and Enoch Light and his Light Brigade?
Aw, who cares. It'll eat up another hour of our pointless, miserable lives, at any rate.

Always singing to 45's when growing up - Beatles, Stones and Motown - Kids' first real performing came after his wanderlust took him to Southern California after playing with some small acts in the 70's. Getting the lead singing gig after the try-out, his Kentucky roots stood him in good stead for the rock-a-billy revival of the early 80's. After fronting a series of garage bands, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and began guesting with some of the great blues acts there at the time. Started fronting for The Roosters and became a much sought after lead singer for rock-and-roll and R & B acts, opening for bands like The Johnny Winter Group. Picking up an acoustic guitar, he began an original music odyssey, creating an all-original open-mic at a local club which led to a very well-recieved opening set for Rickie Lee Jones.
In the early '80's at a THE CLASH tour bus, one time Joe Strummer, (while carving his name on the back of Kids' telecaster) put Kid on a mission to find Joe Ely. The two hit it off right away; he taught Kid you don't always have to shout to be powerfully heard.
A life-long runner, in 1990, Kid met Native American Activist Dennis Banks, and was invited to be one of the runners for a Sacred Run across Canada. This continued for the next twenty years, Kid being named Run Captain on the 30 year anniversity of the Longest Walk in 2006. Through Sacred Run events Kid has shared the stage with Floyd "Red Crow" Westerman, Robert Mirabal, Black Fire, and Martha Redbone, and did a set of his own songs with an all-star backing band including David Amram, Charlie Hill and Red Thunder. In 1996 Kid was one of six runners who ran across the country, 30 miles a day, in 104 days. His original material contains songs that are a testament to his experiences on the Run, as well as every aspect of his gypsy life on the road, and earthy tunes about passion and life.
In 1998, Kid recorded a full length CD with his band Mongrel Soup "Her Perfect Soul" (named for his cat Podkayne). The album got great reviews but no major distribution. Since then Kid has found ways to criss-cross the country playing solo originals or guesting with Blues or R&B bands. Kids' music has been called righteous Rock-and-Roll, Roots-Rock, and Country Blues.

The income-level disparity in this country is now wider than at any point since the Great Depression. How can this country be so wealthy yet have a steadily growing number of unemployed and working poor. In the past we took important positive steps without which 25 to 30 million more people would be poor, but poverty fluctuates with the business cycle. The structure of today's economy has stultified wage growth for half of America's workers with even worse results at the bottom and for people of color while bestowing billions on those at the top.
What is happening to the people behind the statistics and especially the continuing crisis of young people of color, whose possibility of a productive life too often is lost on their way to adulthood. This is crisis of poverty is the most critical American dilemma of the twenty-first century.

Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul.
