Blankfort reports on Mexican election and PRIâs buying of votes; of report by Israeli online DebkaFile that US Jewish leaders and Israeli government are upset because Obama has broken promise to Israel and Jewish leaders not to speak or meet with new Egyptian president Morsi until Morsi publicly announces 1979 Camp David Treaty will be the center of Egyptian foreign policy and has Egyptian parliament recognize it. Blankfort recommends Jewish leaders be forced to register as foreign (Israeli) agents. He also reports on US military build-up in Gulf to reassure Israel.

Provincial police threatens Algonquins of Barriere Lake with arrest for protesting logging

The logging company Resolute Forest Products started cutting down trees in Barrier Lake last tuesday despite the strong opposition of the Algonquin community. The land includes sacred ground and important moose habitat. There was no consultation with residents, but the Ministry of Natural Resources office in Maniwaki issued permits for the logging to take place anyway. Late last night, SQ police forces were deployed in Barrier Lake.

The Social Planning Council of Winnipeg has suggestions for the City on how to address the shortage of affordable housing and the issue of homelessness. The Chernobyl reactor explosion is referenced to minimize the impact of Fukuchima. Supposedly only 35 people died. The World Health Organization and the IAEA, whose mission is to promote nuclear power, claim that "there is no scientific evidence of increases in overall cancer incidence or mortality rates or in rates of non-malignant disorders that could be related to radiation exposure from Chernobyl."
That the reality on the ground is very different comes to life in a book, Chernobyl: Consequences of the Catastrophe for People and the Environment.Â

Egypt's unconstitutional "parliament" that was "dissolved" by the Egyptian military, then "reconvened" by the "president" this week "defied" an unenforced "ban" with a ten-minute "meeting" to declare it would NOT be meeting, pending an "appeal" to a lower court than the "supreme" court which declared the body "illegitimate" to draft a "constitution" for the legally "undocumented" nation.

AMNESTY CONDEMNS LIBYAN MILITIATOCRACY
Libya's NATO-enabled "republic of militias" held a presidential election this week amid what Amnesty International calls an ongoing regime of "arbitrary arrests and detention, torture, impunity for unlawful killings, and forced displacement."
SANJEEV BERY, Amnesty's Middle East and North African Advocacy Director [ aiusa.org ] details the humanitarian turmoil and racial repression that remains rampant in the former Libyan Arab Jamahiriya;

The Obama administration is secretly negotiating a "Trans-Pacific Free Trade Agreement" which would expand drug patent monopolies and curtail the production of cheaper generic drugs, such as HIV/AIDS "cocktails." Protesters recently gathered at Pfizer's New York headquarters to oppose the chemical conglomerate's $80,000 Congressional lobbying campaign, and White House support for the pharmaceutical lobby.

On Strike at Caterpiller's Joilet Plant

On May 01, 2012, IAM Local 851 went on strike at Caterpiller's hydraulics plant near Joilet, Illinois, following their rejection of Caterpillers contract offer that was less then the original one they had refused. The workers on the picket line that day speak about their jobs and why they are putting themselves on the line.
The last voice is that of a union member at the 851 union hall. Members were coming in for strike assignments and to pick up aid to help tide them through lean times. He rattles of the scope of the companies profits, the contract give backs that union members had made in the past and why they are determined to win.
