Bananagrams is a game you play with lettered tiles. Each player works to assemble a pile of letters into a crosssword on the table in front of them. The one who finishes first says, âBananagrams!â Then everybody admires everybody elseâs words and helps them use up the rest of their letters. If you like puzzles and know how to spell, the game is fun and speedy and can make you feel quite clever.
I went to the northwest of Ghana to visit friends and shortly after I arrived, one of them drew out the yellow banana-shaped pouch with the clittery tiles inside, and said, âThereâs this game weâve been playing...â

Tonight we have a terrific find--a lost Lymph Node Institute show! It was originally BSTF #317 from 2001--I was out having back surgery, and Doc Ellis, Doktor Bugbladder, and Doktor T. Nitus took over for me when I was recovering from being under the knife. I taped a copy of the show, but I was still groggy on pain meds and scribbled "317 Doc Ellis sits in/monkeys" on the label before I filed it in a shoebox and forgot about it. But HELL! It turns out it's a doozy of a full-blown LNI production, their DISCORD show! So tonight, after having lain in its cassette case in the dark for a lost decade, the good (?) doktors of the Lymph Node Institute present an irritating array of abrasive ideas misaligned with appropriately discordant music to jog your thought processes out of the rut they're in! And the "monkeys" of that drug-scribbled title--? In a powerful informative lecture, Doc P. Ellis presents the Institute's eminently workable scheme to monkeywrench the political process--with MONKEYS!

High Court Signals Receptivity To Arizona's Anti-Immigration Legislation Which Could Result In Mass Incarceration Of Latinos

The lawyer arguing against provisions in Arizona's anti-immigration law said that if the U.S. Supreme Court upholds SB 1070 there could be "mass incarceration" of Latinos. And, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer who had signed the proposed legislation into law in 2010 agreed as she stood on the court house steps after its argument that incarceration of Arizona's estimated 400,000 undocumented immigrants was up for consideration, if the highest court lifted the block on SB1070's enforcement. During oral argument on SB 1070 by the high court Justice Scalia cynically suggested mass incarceration could be avoided by "simply deporting these people," and in the one-hour argument both conservative and liberal justices expressed skepticism to the challenges to the Arizona law, filling immigrants, and immigration advocates with
apprehension. Meanwhile, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Indiana and Utah have proposed or enacted similar legislation and await the court's ruling expected in June. We'll parse out the arguments and discuss what's at stake for the country's immigrant populations, and the fabric of democracy.
