It shows not only the construction under way that will take 140 years, but introduces the people involved, the scientists, regulators and corporate executives who oversee this project. None of them will be alive when Onkalo, as the repository is called, will be finished in 2120; and they must expect this repository to remain intact and untouched by future humans for at least 100,000 years. Such is the danger and longevity of waste from nuclear power plants.

BSTF 874 - Hurricane Spectacular 17 - Judgement Day!

July 24, 2011, 1:23 a.m.
At last, we reach the END -- the final episode of my HURRICANE SPECTACULAR, Chapter 17: "Judgment Day!" YES! It's the end of the road for this sprawling epic, and the end of the road for our rogue president as all of George W. Bush's chickens come home to roost with deadly results. Justice is a dish best served with extreme prejudice, and this time everyone gets a slice of George's ass! He goes directly from the clutches of his mysterious, sadistic kidnapper Jack into the long, cruel arms of the law, where he is delivered unto the tender mercies of those left to die in the wastes of the Hurricane Katrina Zone. One way or another, the balance is going to get set right. Even the sobbing Aaron Broussard gets in a good, solid punch on the lying sonofabitch. But George's violent arrest and sensational trial cast light on the darkest intrigues the secretive Bush Family--until it all ultimately explodes in an orgy of retribution, agony, and the most shocking secrets of ALL! The loose ends braid themselves together like a well- knotted noose into an almost coherent narrative--one that wraps itself all up nice and tight, complete with a sublime coda at the end. DAMN. Trust me on this one. You will SHIT. Tonight's chapter features some unknown somebody's insanely good mashup of George W. Bush reciting "Sunday Bloody Sunday." I can't tell who did it--someone named rx or rx2008, perhaps, or that's just a guy who posted it on YouTube--but it bears the same fine, obsessive technique demonstrated in the Bush mashup of "Imagine/ Take a Walk on the Wild Side." So I'm not the only one out there doing this. I just do seventeen fucking hours of this shit at a whack.

BSTF 873 - Hurricane Spectacular 16 - Holy Terror!

July 24, 2011, 1 a.m.
TONIGHT! It's the next-to-the-last episode of the HURRICANE SPECTACULAR! Chapter 16: "Holy Terror!" This one opens with the Tura Satana WREK promo I never used, then shifts into screeching, nitro-fueled gear. The renegade ex-president George, once again in the hands of the violent and mysterious kidnapper Jack, lies bloody on the wet ground amid shattered hurricane debris, unconscious and caught in the grips of unreeling fever dreams: nightmares that cast light on the sickly interwoven intrigues of the Bush and Robertson dynasties; George's initial encounter with the drunken, blowsy Laura in a Midland, Texas, whorehouse; the byzantine, twisting path leading to George's theft of the 2000 presidential election; and finally, the real, true, authentic inside story of the 9/11 urban apocalypse as filtered through a LORD OF THE FLIES idiom, capped off with a dramatic and deadly confrontation between rival half brothers George W. Bush and Jeb Robertson Bush atop the remaining World Trade Center tower in the sliver of time before it is blasted into eternity. This one is not to be missed. Trust me on this. It's a "Holy flurking SCHNITT!!!" and a HALF.

Venezuela Today: Investing in It's People

July 23, 2011, 8:54 p.m.
Participatory democracy, community councils with independent access to government funding, National Health Care, available to all, the eradication of illiteracy and the possibility of the poorest to have access to education, even State funded pensions for peasants and house wives who meet some basic qualifications, and the nations oil wealth being allocated for the benefit of the people rather than the wealthy few are a few of the realities that the Consul General of Venezuela speaks about in his presentation. Venezuela maintains a mixed economy: 1/3 private, 1/3 state, 1/3 community based. Is it Venezuela's tiny military that is a threat to the US ruling/corporate class? Or is it the alternative model of sharing national wealth and empowering all it's people that is feared?
