Klan, Westboro Baptist show up at Arlington Cemetary for Memorial Day

June 2, 2011, 2:28 p.m.
On Memorial Day, soldiers buried at Arlington Cemetery received perhaps the ultimate insult: Westboro Baptist Church showed up-and was counterprotested by the Klan-that's right, the KKK or Ku Klux Klan showed up, supposedly to counterprotest Westboro, but maybe to insult an African-American president as well?

Protest works-DC stopped from closing homeless shelters over budget gap

June 2, 2011, 2:20 p.m.
There are those who say you can't fight City Hall, there are those who say protesting is a waste of time In DC, however, they've just been proven wrong! (Clip) When DC Council chairman Kwame Brown proposed to close all homeless shelters to avoid raising taxes on the rich, about 200 protesters swarmed the Wilson Building. When they went to Kwame Brown's office, some warned that if homeless people were turne out of shelters, riots would be next: (clip) They got that about the riots! As a result, Kwame Brown threw in the towel, and the shelters will stay open. He still chose to nickel and dime the middle class with fees instead of taxing the rich, but remember-it wasn't the middle class saying they would riot, and it wasn't the middle class looking at sleeping outdoors every night except during hypothermia season. Protest WORKS, you CAN fight City Hall! Don't just vote, organize-get together with your neighbors and those you know the most, stand up to Wal-Mart, stand up to City Hall!

Elder financial abuse may result from intentional deception promoted under the guise of "seminar," sometimes with a "free lunch" included. "Living Trust Seminars" are commercially organized to encourage invitations from unsuspecting seniors to allow trained sales people into the home. Sales can and do result in reverse mortgages and costly annuities depleting life saving from seniors and their heirs. This, the first in a series, we visit with Attorney Prescott Cole with California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform on elder financial abuse.
