THIS WEEK (Episode 6): In addition to the usual music melange and commentary, we spotlight two new albums from the Arab Arab world: Tania saleh'a 'Wehde' and Omar Offendum's 'SyrianamericanA.'
The program premiered on March 1, 2011 and is hosted by Dr. Ramzi Salti of the African and Middle Eastern (AME) Languages and Literatures Program at Stanford University.

Strathcona Park faces threat of private development

Clayoquot Wilderness Resort has been granted permission to build infrastructure for their own private use in one of Vancouver Island's oldest and most extensive provincial parks. The Friends of Strathcona Park is dedicated to preserving the park for all users. Carol Hunter is an organizer with the group.

Bay Area Dock Workers Under Attack

The Bay Areaâs International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 10 is under attack by the Pacific Maritime Association, after the rank and file dock
workersâ voluntary action in solidarity with the national âWe Are Oneâ action, for the Wisconsin public workers. The PMA is suing the ILWU Local 10 because the members shutdown the ports in support of other workers. This is a serious attack on the right of workers to withhold their labor to support other workers, and along with support from the 87,000 member San Francisco Labor Council Local 10 workers continue to demonstrate their solidarity with workers fighting the attacks on collective bargaining rights.

McMaster University has a climate change research centre -set up as of March 2010. It encompasses 24 scientists , all looking at the effects that our changed climate has already had on the planet, and what we must do to keep global temperatures from climbing.

This week's show looks at the health impacts of chemical pollution. At home, profit maximisation is steadily toxifying the environment of North America as corporations hide behind deceitful and outdated legal guidelines. In Nigeria, we see how $hell are blatantly dumping whatever is expedient, using a mixture of lawyers and violence to try to stifle objections. We conclude with a 2005 recording about the damage of pre-natal exposure to environmental toxins.

Anthony R. Ingraffea, Ph.D., a professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. Ingraffea is considered a world expert on in the field of fracture mechanics for gas and oil extractions. He discuses the differences between conventional gas drilling and what is refered to as hydrofracking.

Monitor was informed of the histopathology allegations by John Savage during a routine telephone call. John Savage had known about them for at least a year as he was copied on the 15th June 2008 letter to Graham Rich. Yet neither thought it necessary to inform Monitor as a Foundation Trust regulator. UBHT became a Foundation Trust on 1st June 2008 and was thereafter known as UHB.
