The leisure we enjoy today--weekends, vacations, etc--was not granted freely by employers. Rather, it was taken without permission by "renegade" workers of decades past. These included slaves, drunken craftsmen, unmotivated factory hands, etc. For instance, plantation slaves established the practice of vacation--much to the annoyance of their masters. (They'd agree to return in exchange for not being punished.)

Tariq Ali: Islam, the US, China

As the 2011 Sir Douglas Robb Lecturer at Auckland University he delivered a series of three, free lectures: Islam and its Discontents (17 March), US Power Today: The Global Hegemon (21 March), and The Rise of China (23 March).

Dr. Vincent Cogliano is the scientist responsible for running US EPA's Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS). Dr. Cogliano describes the current state of scientific knowledge on the subject of quantitative cancer risk assessment for persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Few quantitative cancer risk assessments have been produced for POPs. It is not possible to produce a quantitative cancer risk assessment for total POPs exposure imposed by consumption of animal fat.
The only reasonable action government public health agencies have open to them is educating the general public about POPs exposure cancer risk and exposure reduction strategies. This action has not been taken despite the fact that the federal government has been aware of POPs contamination of the food supply since the 1970s. The US government has allowed corporations to dictate silence on the subject of POPs exposure cancer risk. The government health entities must throw off all corporate control and begin immediately to educate the general public on the subject of POPs exposure avoidance via restricting consumption of animal fat.

THE ANTHRAX ATTACKS ARE A HUGELY IMPORTANT KEY TO THE 9/11 CATASTROPHE, and Graeme McQueen explains the known facts calmly and objectively. The "coincidences" are clearly labelled as such, but the author give us his personal opinion, too. There are many otherwise educated people in the USA and Canada who dismiss any suggestion of an "inside job" but the anthrax attacks provided a picture that the most ignorant must find revealing.

Ottawa in May 2010.
