Stopping the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline Project, Dustin Johnson of the Tsimshian Nation on NW Coast
March 22, 2011, 1:56 p.m.
Dustin Johnson is from the Killerwhale Clan from the Tsimshian Nation on the northwest coast. British Columbia, Canada is a place where much of the land belongs to First Nations. No treaties were ever signed by most of the BC First Nations. These are people who have never relinquished any part of their lands, never given up any of their sovereignty within these lands.
The corporate powers that are conducting tar sands exploitation in Alberta, Canada have decided to build a pipeline across the lands of BC First Nations. This is the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline. First Nations oppose the construction of this pipeline. First Nation elders confronted Enbridge corporate executives who had come to BC to build up support for the project. The elders told Enbridge that they were trespassing and to get off First Nations lands. The elders warned Enbridge that the First Nations would not allow the pipeline to be built.
The Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline would cross lands that First Nations have occupied for thousands of years. A tar sands pipeline has no place on these lands. These are lands of pristine boreal forest. A tar sands pipeline would only cause harm to these primal forests and their inhabitants.
Love of the land empowers the BC First Nations to oppose the Enbridge pipeline. These people are deeply committed to protecting their beloved homelands. They protect these lands as they protect their human mothers. The Earth is the Earth Mother in First Nations BC.
Listen to Dustin. This First Nations man is a strong, good voice that calls out to all of us, "Stop Tar Sands." Listen to him. He asks us to join into tar sands opposition by conducting Stop Tar Sands events in solidarity with First Nations protests. Go to tar sands opposition websites, including: Tar Sands Watch and Oil Sands Watch. Find out when events will be taking place in Alberta and BC. Organize your own community to conduct a Stop Tar Sands event when the First Nations are in action. Viva the Stop Tar Sands revolution. Viva the spiritual, environmental revolution.

Nation's Best National Bicycle Greenway Example - American River Parkway
March 22, 2011, 1:32 p.m.
We traveled to what we feel is a perfect world example of how the National Bicycle Greenway can take advantage of the geographical assets each region all across the United States has to offer to increase the well being of all those who use it as well as those who live and work nearby. While it takes a region wide community of people from many walks of life to manage the 37+ mile American River Parkway jewel set at the base of the Sierras, we found three authoritative voices who have had decades of experience with it on many levels. In the words ahead, you can hear what Folsom Recreation Manger, Lynn Lepage, Folsom Water Works Operator, Daryl Pearson and Folsom Trails Director, Jim Konopka, have to say about the true bicycle treasure they get to enjoy on a daily basis.
IMPACT OF RADIATION FROM NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS - Dr. Helen Caldicott
March 22, 2011, 12:37 p.m.
As world attention is focussed on the severely damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan it become apparent how little is known about the radioactive substances being released and their impacts on life.
Helen Caldicott says that 200 new elements are made inside a nuclear reactor, all intensely radioactive, some lasting seconds, some 17 million years. Many of them are carcinogenic, some are mutagenic. In this speech she explains how radiation induces cancers and mutations, and describes the effects of the four most significant isotopes present in nuclear power plants: radioactive iodine-131, cesium-137, strontium-90, and plutonium-239.
Canada's support for an undeniably apartheid state
March 22, 2011, 12:23 p.m.

County Government Health Departments Bear Responsibility for Warning the Public of POPs Contaminants in US Food Supply
March 21, 2011, 5:08 p.m.
Government health agencies are failing to protect the public from avoidable exposure to persistent organic pollutants, which contaminate all animal fat. Cancer Action NY has sought to motivate the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Cancer Institute, the New York State Department of Health and numerous county health departments to provide POPs exposure reduction education to Americans.
The government health agencies have demonstrated a great hesitancy to provide POPs exposure reduction education due to the fact that this education involves informing the public that the food supply has become contaminated with cancer causing chemicals that last for long periods of time in the environment and in people's bodies. The chemical and food corporations oppose any such education. Corporations rule in Washington. Thus it is going to take a huge amount of public pressure to force the federal government health agencies to educate on POPs exposure reduction.
Cancer Action NY is working in a number of New York State counties to bring about the establishment of POPs exposure reduction education programs in the county public health departments.
