Nov. 29, 2010, 6:36 a.m.
This episode: why might Western-supported North and South Korea be starting WW3? Why'd the media get us excited about the naked body scanner revolt? Why do we hear so much about raising "taxes" to pay back govt. "debt" when they borrow more than we pay from central banks who print it from nothing? Why are 9-year olds pole dancing and selling lingerie? Why are we obsessed with fashion? Why is AIDS back? If it was what they they said 25 years ago, wouldn't we all know at least 5 people with AIDS?

BSTF 842 - SusieCide

Nov. 28, 2010, 8:02 a.m.
BSTF--The SusieCide show. It's a matter of life and/or death when we explore the upside/downside of suicide! A step like this is really important, so for you, the seekers, BSTF troubleshoots the most popular methods of checking out early and highlights some spectacular suicide FAILs. All the exposition is framed with Richard Kiley's "Fickle Finger of Fate," the Happy Fingers Institute's "Nightmare," the Nuns' "Suicide Child," the Circle Jerks' "Living," Screeching Weasel's "Cancer in My Body," and the Polystyrene Jass Band's "Drano in Your Veins." Infrequently I have sudden deep depressive plunges, and I deal with them by killing that part of me through sound and torment. This is one of those shows. A couple weeks ago when I dropped out for a while, it was because I was skating on the edge of one of these for a few days. It seemed like it was time to withdraw for a few days, and blow the dust off this show and fix it up and wallow in a nice suicidal stew until I snapped out of it. This show originally aired during the holidays, too, so it's a nice bit of gravity-inducing texture as we enter the Suicide Season. Gotta think these things through carefully, now, from a sober perspective. Don't wanna go off half-cocked.
