Nov. 1, 2009, 4:55 p.m.
While the warming of the ocean is posing huge problems for marine life in the tropics, the North Atlantic ocean off Nova Scotia is less prone to warming waters due to an increase in cold water coming in from melting ice in the arctic. But it turns out warmer waters are not the only thing that we have to cope with – massive increases in the carbon dioxide content of the ocean are causing it to become more acidic, posing big problems for marine life, including some pretty important animals at the very bottom of the ocean food chain. Allyn Clarke is an oceanographer with the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. He came in to CKDU to explain how the ocean is being affected by climate change, including both the effects of warming waters and ocean acidification.

BSTF 791 - The Oxycontinental

Nov. 1, 2009, 3:59 a.m.
After Evil Susie abuses me a bit, you get a great show: the Rush Limbaugh Hellspree Show, "The Oxycontinental"! And this time, I included the fucking credits for the rest of the show, like for the part with Murry Wilson browbeating his sons the Beach Boys in the studio in front of their pals, which degenerates into a face-off between Brian and his Dad. (Especially piquant is Brian's remark about his dad's yelling hurting his ear-- he'd lost hearing in the other ear because of a blow from his loving father as a child.) There's John Wayne drunk, and Zsa Zsa and Bing and Jack Palance and William Shatner in the soundbooth, as well as cartoon- voice gods Don Messick and June Foray cutting up in the studio. Then it's capped off with the Troggs having a total mental meltdown over ONE FUCKING NOTE.

You'll marvel, gag, and moan--and after the Flooze's introduction, you'll get to hear the music!
