This was my first radio program in about 6 months. This show, I gave a brief introduction and and overview of the hydraulic fracturing for natural gas that is threatening the Binghamton and Upstate New York area.

Dioxin Damages the Immune System

Dr. Lawrence gives a beautifully enlightening interview on the subject of her scientific research concerning the damages to the immune system that are caused by dioxin exposure. Dioxin exposed mice were found to be very susceptible to influenza infection. Science has not yet determined a safe level for dioxin exposure with regard to immune system damages. In precaution it would be very reasonable to reduce your animal fat consumption during the flu season to minimize the imposition of any dioxin exposure immune system deficits.

TxSharon and Don Young talked of their experiences as activists fighting the drilling in and near the Fort Worth area.
Dr. Power discussed the economic impacts (positive and negative) of natural gas drilling, and what it means to the local community.
Dr. Subra discussed her work testing the air in DISH Texas, and the report she gave to the New York State Senate regarding clean water.

This weeks show features Helen Slottje of Horseheads, NY and Annie Lenihan of Oxford, NY. Helen is a lawyer who is fighting the proposed Schlumberger natural gas facilities site that is being built in Horseheads. Annie is an activist in the Oxford area who works with CDOG (Chenango Delaware Otsego Gas Drilling Opposition Group). They share their experiences, the work they are involved in, and ideas on how to get involved.
