Just as the U.S. has ended over-the-air analog TV in favor of digital and freeing the old analog spectrum for new communications, Canada will end universal access to analog signals in 2011. However, on our horizon are rumblings of continuing analog over-the-air availability in major centres, and even an idea requiring government subsidy for "free TV", a very low cost, basic television service for those on fixed incomes who cannot afford cable TV.

Lockheed Martin is the world's biggest arms exporter and they just got a two billion dollar contract from the Canadian government. The federal government is quietly increasing the military budget so that, by 2027, Canada will be spending 30 billion dollars per year. We speak with Tamara Lorincz of the Halifax Peace Coalition.
