Adam’s Curse, A Future Without Men The Y chromosome, compared to the body’s 45 other chromosomes, is very fragile. Linda Sarsour and Marc Lamont Hill on Intersectionality; Mondoweiss with SJP on Visibility (R)

Sept. 30, 2022, 2:33 a.m.
We feature Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour and Black activist Marc Lamont Hill in an Al Jazeera recorded conversation on intersectionality, the linkage of the Palestinian rights movement with the movement for Black rights in the US. The second movement we focus on today is visibility of the Palestinian rights movement on US campuses today, in particular the development of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) movement which has initiated immense pushback from Zionist campus groups, the well-funded Jewish Lobby, and too often, their university administrations and Boards of Trustees. These have given enormous visibility to the Palestinian cause which for so long has been suppressed. (Archive from 6-27-2021.)

Welcome to "The Radio Art Hour," a show where art is not just on the radio, but is the radio. "The Radio Art Hour" draws from the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource that aims to identify, coalesce, and celebrate historical and contemporary international radio artworks made by artists around the world, created specifically for terrestrial AM/FM broadcast, whether it be via commercial, public, community, or independent transmission. Come on a journey with us as radio artists explore broadcast radio space through poetic resuscitations and playful celebrations/subversions of the complex relationship between senders and receivers in this hour of radio about radio as an art form. "The Radio Art Hour" features introductions from Philip Grant and Tom Roe, and from Wave Farm Radio Art Fellows Karen Werner, Andy Stuhl, and Jess Speer. The Conet Project's recordings of numbers radio stations serve as interstitial sounds. Go to wavefarm.org for more information about "The Radio Art Hour" and Wave Farm's Radio Art Archive.

Mind Games

Sept. 29, 2022, 3:30 a.m.
"Turn On The News" is the weekly newscast from the fictional Radio Network, with parody radio coverage of the radio and its headlines. Now with computerized news readers, and fewer meddling reporters, plus aggregated reporting, and automated music. Tune in "Turn On The News" each week for the latest news, radio art, and more from our robot reporters, making sure you hear both sides -- good and evil -- every time you "Turn On The News." It is often a mash-up of the week's news, and sometimes a radio news fantasy with song parodies and covers similar to "Dr. Demento" and comedy skits and more. The show airs at 3 p.m. Thursdays on WGXC, 2 p.m. Fridays on WBAI, and also most weeks on WGRN, WRWK, KFUG, KACR, KRFP-LP, KMSW, and many other stations. Produced by Tom Roe at Wave Farm and WGXC. Free Leonard Peltier - Imprisoned for 45 years for a crime he did not commit

Sept. 28, 2022, 6:48 a.m.
At the end of September 2022, after Leonard Peltier’s 78th birthday, chances for his release are possibly better than ever before. His new attorney, Kevin Sharp, confirmed that no proof exists that ties Peltier to the 1975 deaths of two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge reservation. And the Democratic National Convention voted unanimously on September 10, 2022, to urge President Biden to release Leonard Peltier from prison. The Huffington Post called this a sign of the growing momentum to remedy what many consider a decades long stain on the nation’s criminal justice system. And a 2 1/2 months long walk began in Minneapolis on September first with an arrival date in Washington, DC, for November 14. Under the banner: “Walk to Justice: Free Leonard Peltier”, the march stops in major cities along the way for rallies and closes with concert on November 14. Rachel Thunder is the lead organizer of the walk. She is the director of AIM’s True People of Indiana and Kentucky Chapter. Kevin Sharp is former Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, now in private practice. He agreed to take the Peltier case pro bono. Kevin Sharp and Rachel Thunder were streamed Live on September 9, 2022. They were interviewed by Levi Rickert at Native News Online. In January 2022, I produced a radio program in support of clemency for Leonard Peltier. I drew material for an extraordinary interview by Chris Hedges with Peltier’s new attorney, Kevin Sharp. Here are parts of their conversation about the history of the FBI involvement on the Pine Ridge reservation. And closing this with a clip from an interview of Kevin Sharp by Amy Goodman on Democracy Now posted on YouTube on January 31, 2022. This was coverage of the campaign to free Leonard Peltier - projecting forward to a rally and concert in Washington, DC, on November 14, 2022.
