Listen for Seasick Steve, Stone Temple Pilots, the Iguana Death Cult, Frances Quinlan and more. Also great classic jazz, we’ll feature sax man Paul Desmond with his version of Lady In Cement. Then later comedian Dennis Regan tells us what is like when you aren’t the smartest kid in school. And finally a massive Sonic Café welcome to our newest sponsor, listen for a message from the Law Accounting, are they lawyers, or are they accountants… you decide. All that and a whole lot more this time, as once again, we bring you the magic of radio, from that little café on the big blue Pacific coast, we’re the Sonic Café.

Donald Drumpf Theatre Volume 178 Bunker Boy

June 10, 2020, 8:30 p.m.
An original radio theatre show each week, with most sounds culled from the previous week, about a fictional, theatrical presidency. Contradictions tell the story, with songs, skits, and clips from political news shows and late-night comedy routines. The definition of "radio theatre" is stretched here, with an updated Dickie Goodman and/or Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style sometimes, and a more straightforward take other weeks. Currently airing on 30 or 40 stations around the world, the network has ordered another 6 months of episodes. Anyone who would like to work on a production, or have their work air in this timeslot, should contact info@wgxc.org.

Dr. John Campbell on Covid 19 and Air Pollution

June 9, 2020, 3:27 p.m.
When in the last days of May 2020 several respected institutions such as the Harvard School of Public Health, and the All Party Group on Air Pollution in the UK, came up with strong emerging evidence that air pollution is a major contributing factor to the spread of Covid 19, Dr. John Campbell took a closer look. Outdoor air pollution already kills 4.2 million people per year in the world. Dr. John Campbell is a retired Nurse Teacher in England who has gone through rigorous scientific training. Since the beginning of the pandemic he has walked into his study - once or even twice a day - and turned the camera on for his welcome and given updates on Covid 19. They are archived on his YouTube channel under “campbellteaching”. Always friendly, personal with the scientific sources for his topics displayed on handmade slides - he explains complicated processes in no nonsense practical terms. Dr. John Campbell recorded this lesson on Air Pollution on May 31, 2020

Maurice Plaines on America's Epidemic of Racism

June 9, 2020, 1:35 p.m.
This has been a difficult stretch for the country with millions sick, out of work, or simply stuck at home. But the horrific murder of George Floyd shifted our collective focus to a very different sort of epidemic. Mr. Floyd joined the names of Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor and thousands of other African Americans who have been killed by the police in this country. We often hear that at times like this we need to have a national conversation about race, but where do we start? Host Alex Wise decided to start with a personal conversation with a longtime friend, to get his insights into what it feels like to grow up Black in America and to better understand the work that needs to be done on the racial justice front. This week on Sea Change Radio, in the first of two conversations about race, we welcome Maurice Plaines, a high school friend of our host who works for Emerging Scholars Program in the DC Metro area. We discuss racism and police brutality in America, his own reaction to George Floyd's murder, and the work of his organization to broaden educational opportunity for students of color.

George Floyd demos becoming American cultural revolution

June 8, 2020, 8:51 p.m.
Phil likens the reaction to the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd to a cultural revolution. People in the US and all over the world are now noticing that the US ruling class has its knee on not only the necks of black people in the USA, but also on the necks of Syrians, Libyans, Iranian, and Venezuelans through illegal sanctions. He discusses the militarization of police and the significance of the toppling of the statue of Edward Colston in Bristol, England, and calls for the toppling of General Lee in Richmond. In his Gettysburg address Lincoln spoke of government "of the people, by the people, for the people." Phil says the U.S. should implement this dictum and become a people's republic. With regard to Hong Kong, Phil dissects U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson's threat to give U.K. citizenship to 3 million HK residents. And the CLC's support for western meddling in China's internal affairs.
