Alice Rothchild and Fady Khoury on Israel's New Nation State Law
Nov. 17, 2018, 4:37 p.m.
The new Israeli Nation State law continues to gain International focus and condemnation. Though Israel chafes at the mere hint that it is an Apartheid state, the Nation State law boldly sets in Israeli law the legal structure for an Apartheid state. In the age of Trump and Netanyahu, where black is white and up is down, the so called âonly democratic state in the Middle Eastâ is, by law, a classic apartheid, antidemocratic state. It is now set down in black and white in the Israeli law books.
This week we again take a long and hard look at what this law really does, the society it really sets by law, and in particular what it means to the Palestinian people living under occupation in this apartheid state. Today we hear a presentation by Alice Rothchild and Fady Khoury, recorded at the Community Church of Boston. Their focus? the effects of the Nation State law.
Old friend Alice Rothchild is a retired physician who now spends her time writing books and articles on the Middle East, making films and speaking throughout the country.
Fady Khoury is a civil and political rights attorney with the Adalah Law Center in Haifa. He also is Doctoral candidate at the Harvard Law School.

Venezuela Revolution's Struggle against US, Canada, and European Union Sanctions
Nov. 16, 2018, 7:15 p.m.
The Venezuelan economy is being crippled by the sanctions that the US, Canada and European Union have imposed on it.
A campaign of misinformation and threat, black propaganda, and physical and economic sabotage is underway as well.
The sanctions impose heavy burdens on ordinary Venezuelans who are just trying to live their lives. Unilateral sanctions are illegal under international law but the the United States has a long history of violating International law with impunity. Former President Obama's declaration that Venezuela is a special national security threat to the United States has frozen it out of the international finance system dominated by the U.S. Dollar. Ellner explains the impacts on life in Venezuela and its struggle to be independent of U.S. imperialism..
While Venezuela's large oil reserves certainly figure into the formation of U.S. neoliberal foreign policy, it's the threat of the good example that drives the viciousness of the U.S. ruling class effort to destroy the Bolivian Revolution and the gains made for the workers, women and the poor.
Steve Ellner, professor in Venezuela, author of many books and articles on Chavista Venezuela, will discuss the impact of these sanctions and the impact of other factors (such as the drop in the price of oil, the reliance on oil exports, economic sabotage by the right-wing, mismanagement) on the Venezuelan people's lives.

Georgia Republicans Stealing Our Elections
Nov. 16, 2018, 11:57 a.m.
Whose Stealing Our Elections & How the Republicans are Doing it in Georgia!
with
Greg Palast, veteran election investigator who has continued to uncover the sickening truth of widespread systemic election rigging, robbing African-American, Hispanic and Asian American voters of their right to vote in crucial states. Palast is known for complex undercover investigations, spanning five continents, from the Arctic to the Amazon, from Caracas to California, using the skills he learned over two decades as a top investigator of corporate fraud. Palast is the author of several New York Times bestsellers, Billionaires & Ballot Bandits The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, Vultures' Picnic and Armed Madhouse.
Stacey Abrams, Georgias Gubernatorial candidate, should not concede the election which was almost certainly stolen by a candidate who supervised his own election, Republican Brian Kemp
Georgia Republican Brian Kemp, according to the latest numbers, is clinging just above the 50 percent mark required to avoid a run-off with Democratic opponent Stacey Abrams. Kemp, until Thursday, was Georgias Secretary of State in charge of voting " and in charge of maintaining the voter rolls to make them more accurate. But he used that power to cancel more than half a million Georgian voter registrations without notice. While Kemp, has declared victory in his heated gubernatorial race Democratic opponent Stacey Abrams is not conceding.
Federal law doesnt mean a whole lot to Kemp. The GOP candidate aired commercials in which he drawled, Im so conservative I blow up government regulations " followed by dynamite exploding in the background. Kemp blew up a second federal law, the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). As one woman, Bakhtiari said, Not only could I not vote, but they didnt even let me do the provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are required by HAVA specifically to allow voters wrongly purged to cast a ballot so the voter or candidates like Abrams can fight to have it counted by county officials or by court order. Of course, Kemp had already ruled that counties cannot tally the ballots of voters he purged, no matter whether he purged them rightly or wrongly. Abrams legal team is fighting to count every ballot, including the piles of absentee ballots rejected under Kemps rules " and those provisionals " to force Kemp into a run-off.

But there is still a lot of good music on this one and we were very happy to support RB4SJ and the good they are doing to get the word out.

Your Life is Their Toy - Part 12
Nov. 15, 2018, 2:13 p.m.
Health and life are man's most precious possessions; and anxiety to preserve them is natural. It is not surprising, therefore, that they have been exploited since time immemorial. Every age has had its charlatans, quacks and medicine men.
Much in the same measure as social organization has attained its highest pitch in the present era, the exploitation of health and life today has reached its zenith. Never before in history has there arisen such an extensive conspiracy about the problem of public health of entire nations, involving well-organized, opposing political and commercial groups.
The consequence of this welter of exploitation is the sacrifice of human comfort, happiness, health and life.
--Emanuel Josephson, 1941, "Your Life is Their Toy."

Nov. 15, 2018, 4:53 a.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length.
Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul
