The Migrant Caravan: Canadian & US business Interests Place Protfits over People in Central America
Nov. 30, 2018, 1:25 p.m.
This week's episode of the Global Research News Hour takes a close look at the Migrant Caravan making its way from Honduras to the US-Mexico border. In the first half hour, guest Tyler Shipley, author of Ottawa and Empire: Canada and the Military Coup in Honduras, outlines the ways in which Canada and Canadian business interests has supported and enabled the very violent living conditions in Honduras that Migrants are fleeing from. In our second half hour, independent writer and photojournalist José Luis Granados Ceja reports on his observations of the migrant from his time with them in late October. He describes the narco-trafficking and other dangers the migrants have confronted during their 4000 kilometre journey, his thoughts about the November 25th attack by US border agents, and what he anticipates as a leftist politician, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, assumes the presidency of Mexico on December 1st.
California Should Take OverCommercial Utility PG&E for Climate Justice
Nov. 30, 2018, 1:02 p.m.
How Californias Fire Weary Public by Taking Over the Commercial Utility Behemoth PG&E Could Cast a Vote for Climate Justice

Johanna Bozuwa is a Research Associate at the Democracy Collaborative which works to carry out a vision of a new economic system where shared ownership and control creates more equitable and inclusive outcomes, fosters ecological sustainability, and promotes flourishing democratic and community life. Her research focuses on energy democracy and the just transition away from the fossil fuel economy.
A long-awaited report of the federal government, notwithstanding the climate destructionist policies and practices of Trump, has delivered an unmistakable message on climate-fueled disasters: The effects of climate change, including deadly wildfires, increasingly debilitating hurricanes and heat waves, are already battering the United States, and the danger of more such catastrophes is worsening and poses a severe threat to Americans' health and pocketbooks, as well as to the countrys infrastructure and natural resources. However the report avoids policy recommendations despite its sense of urgency and alarm.
Now, amidst the potential bankruptcy of the California utility PG&E, whose negligence is believed to have played a role in Californias most recent devastating fire, along with three other wildfires across the state in 2017, there is an opportunity for the public to take control of the states energy destiny. Californias takeover could serve as a model for other states fed up with the predatory practices of investor-owned utilities and jumpstart a wider shift across the country toward democratically controlled renewable energy.

Your Life is Their Toy - Part 14
Nov. 29, 2018, 9:51 a.m.
Health and life are man's most precious possessions; and anxiety to preserve them is natural. It is not surprising, therefore, that they have been exploited since time immemorial. Every age has had its charlatans, quacks and medicine men.
Much in the same measure as social organization has attained its highest pitch in the present era, the exploitation of health and life today has reached its zenith. Never before in history has there arisen such an extensive conspiracy about the problem of public health of entire nations, involving well-organized, opposing political and commercial groups.
The consequence of this welter of exploitation is the sacrifice of human comfort, happiness, health and life.
--Emanuel Josephson, 1941, "Your Life is Their Toy."

Out of the Woods - Show #452 - 12-8-18
Nov. 29, 2018, 5:18 a.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length.
Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul

Donald Macintyre: Deconstructing Gaza for those who want to know!
Nov. 28, 2018, 6:57 p.m.
Donald Macintyre, former Jerusalem correspondent for the Independent of London has written the most comprehensive and detailed history of Gaza since the 1967 war in which he mixes very human stories with historical analysis in a manner that is easily accessible for those who both support and sympathize with the Palestinians under occupation and those who have an historical interest in understanding this seemingly intractable conflict.
The interview begins with Macintyre explaining why the latest flare-up between Israel and Hamas did not lead to a fourth war by Israel in the decade as many anticipated and why Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu broke with hardline members of his cabinet in agreeing to a cease fire when ALL of Israelâs political parties except the leftist Meretz were calling for war. His book is a âmust readâ for all those with an interest in the Palestinian struggle for justice.
Jeff Blankfort News/Op: Gaza, Rand Paul, Airbnb, Assange
Nov. 28, 2018, 6:48 p.m.
I begin my comparing the situation at the US-Mexico border with that of the Gazans and Israel and note that US foreign policy has been responsible for both. I speak briefly of Gaza ceasefire and failure of ultra Zionist Jewish Home party which opposed it to force new elections.
I then turn to Sen, Rand Paul's hold on bringing the $38 billion US arms to Israel act to a Senate vote which the media has ignored and the lobbying by AIPAC and Christian Zionists to pressure Paul to release his hold. Unless he does there can be no vote on the act.
I go from that to Airbnb's decision ahead of Human Rights Watch criticism to delist rentals in the West Bank and efforts, legal and ministerial to get Airbnb to back down. If it doesn't this will represent the most important victory yet for the BDS movement.
I then quote from essay in Time by Vietnamese-American Viet Tranh Nyguen on racism, war and intervention being an indelible pattern in US history and conclude with a report on the threatened status of Julian Assange in the UK Ecuadoran Embassy after new president, Lenin Moreno, removes ambassador friendly to Assange. I end by suggesting that how people respond to the prosecution of Assange will be a moment of truth.
