This weeks episode contains an introductory montage about the upcoming elections (or explaining what elections are and how they are manipulated). Youâll hear in that montage a great commercial from Reaganâs 1984 election, a brilliant Gregg Palast piece and some information on Gerrymandering. Once past the introduction prepare yourself for another introduction of sorts, as I found myself with a problem this week. Earlier in the week I came across two topics so vitally important I could wait to record a commentary about them, so I took that energy live (sort of), recording segments twice before actually recording the introduction prior to posting the new episode. The first segment discusses Cenk Ugarâs appearance in front of the National Press Club (to be fair, the introduction also touches on that topic), while the second discusses the absurdity of calling Right Wing Gunman Radicals (theyâre bigots, pure and simple). In between each clip youâll hear a great Bruce Springsteen song and an equally great Angels & Airwaves song, before I wrap the episode, saying a fond farewell for now. Thanks for your time. Peace.

Jeff Frank on The Struggle in Brazil

Jeff Frank is the National Coordinator for the Friends of the MST (the Brazilian Landless Workers Movement) and has spent a substantial time in Brazil working with this dynamic peasant movement. He is also a National Lawyers Guild attorney and has worked with Brazilian attorneys to provide support in bringing international pressure to expose the legislative coup in Brazil.
He speaks on the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff in 2016 as part of a soft parliamentary coup; the conviction of Lula and barring his running for election in order to complete the coup; and the first round of the election and what it portends for Brazil. With declining profits, due to a retracting economy and falling commodity prices, international capital wanted an end to the social programs that the Workers Party had implemented
following the dictatorship, which now cut into their profit margins and they were no longer willing to support.
