How well do we know the history of our nation? As for our Founders, what is fact? What is myth? While we have been told we are free, we face an increasing onslaught of laws, edicts, and proclamations governing our lives as American citizens. We have been told that âwe need to get our Constitution back.â Do we truly need to do that?
We are, during every election cycle, given a âchoice.â But is it a real choice? Or a Hobsonâs choice? Were our Founders the godlike, towering figures we were taught? Were they above reproach? Or were they human beings, subject to the same avarice, temptations and lust we all are?
What were their motivations in starting this country? Were they benign in nature, inspired to offer their fellow countrymen âlife, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?â Or were there other instincts at play?
Was the Constitution truly designed to be the bulwark of freedom? Why were the Articles of Confederation jettisoned? Who were the Anti-Federalists? Why did they get such short shrift by history? What was the worth of the Founders? Were they Everymen? Or rich elites?
The answers, when explored from an âunofficialâ vantage point, may surprise you.

Gareth Porter Breaks Down Mueller Report

Gareth Porter, an early critic of Russiagate and the accusations of Russian spying and collusion with Wikileaksâ Julian Assange looks at the Mueller Report and finds little to change his opinion.
He expects the issue will still hang on, providing a distraction from the reality that requires our attention.
He points out that Russia had the ability and the motive to do what it has been accused in the Mueller Report as doing, given the critical intervention by experienced American electoral consultants in the Russian election of 1996 which enabled the incumbent Boris Yeltsin to come from a single digit in the polls to eke out a re-election victory about which the perpetrators later bragged.
But what the US intelligence agencies brought to the table regarding the Russian connection was not based on evidence that could be demonstrated in court but simply their opinion, as Mueller acknowledged.
Porter justifies the efforts of Russia to make contacts with the incoming Trump administration on the easily understood basis that it hoped to improve ties with the US which had dropped to a new low after the US generated coup in Ukraine and Russiaâs annexation of Crimea.
He compares the favorable way in which Henry Kissinger, Nixonâs national security adviser, was treated by the media in 1968 when he established contacts with a known KGB agent in order to make contact with Breznev and establish a détente with the Soviet Union when it was an actual adversary.
Porter is deeply concerned over the threat the intel agencies together with the media pose to democracy when the exposure of the sabotage of the Sanders campaign by the DNC is considered worse than the sabotage itself.(more to come).

This program begins by exposing the hypocrisy of the Big D Democrats whose obsession with Putin and Julian Assange has covered up the role played by the DNC in electing Donald Trump, revealed by a 2015 DNC email, and the Mueller Reportâs inability to substantiate the charges of Russian hacking.
I then switch to the Netanyahu/Adelson directed US economic war on Iran and suggestion that a special counsel needs to investigate Trumpâs having turned US Middle East policy over to a foreign government, namely, Israel.
I close with some of Robert Fiskâs comments on the Israeli election.

Susan Abulhawa on Israel's arms sales per capita

This week we have the privilege of hearing Susan Abulhawa's remarkable keynote address at the recent conference sponsored by Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. Susan is a renowned Palestinian writer and activist and founder of the organization Playgrounds for Palestine. As a speaker and promoter of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement, she is appearing at many venues.
As her introducer explains, Susan first had a successful career in biomedical science, after which she became an acclaimed poet and book author, regarded as "up there with Charles Dickens." Her novel, "Mornings in Jenin," has been translated into 28 languages. Same for "The Blue Between Sky and Water." The list goes on.
As you'll hear today, Susan has examined some of boasts floated by Israel's vast PR machine, for example the claim that Israel pioneered water desalinization, the claim that Israel "made the desert bloom," or the claim that Israel is environmentally responsible. All nonsense. Susan points out that historic Palestine's rainfall is equal to that in London, England, but Israel has squandered that rainfall while grabbing most of the share that rightly belongs to current Palestinians.
Perhaps the most upsetting of Israel's boasts is its preeminence as an arms exporter, selling arms that are "battle-tested" on Palestinians. Unlike the others, that boast is true, and perhaps understated. After some digging, Susan was able to calculate the arms exports per capita of a variety of countries including the USA. In fact, Israel is #1 by a huge margin!
Prior to Susan's keynote, we begin with a voice out of Gaza, the beloved and distinguished voice of Haidar Eid. Haidar Eid is Associate Professor of Postcolonial and Postmodern Literature at Gaza's al-Aqsa University. Here is a quote: âToday I participated in the Great March of Return with tens of thousands of Gazans. We marched on the fence of the Gaza concentration camp marking Land Day and the one-year anniversary of the March. We had the mother of all marches, sending a loud message to apartheid Israel, that we have not forgotten any of our rights. In the process we lost three young men and 316 protesters were injured, according to Gazaâs ministry of health. ..."

The big automakers make all their plans behind closed doors. They shut plants when it suits them. General Motors, Oshawa is a case in point.
But a new mood is growing within organized labour and in the communities that find themselves on the short end of the stick. Talk of a Green New Deal is opening people's eyes to the possibility of putting the community first, creating electric automobiles for example.

Yanis Varoufakis was already an internationally known economist and academic when he was elected to the Greek parliament as a member of the Syriza party. He served as Minister of Finance from January to July 2015. He resigned when Syriza broke its campaign promise to re-negotiate Greece's debt and significantly curtail the austerity measures imposed on Greece.
Varoufakis has become one of the eloquent and best known critics of the unlimited economic growth systems in Europe and the US - that make the largest corporations and financial institutions major drivers of climate change.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah on Monday condemned the series of blasts which stormed Sri Lanka, stressing that culprits lack innate humane nature and calling for a comprehensive confrontation with terrorism and its supporters.
In his speech during Hezbollah ceremony, marking Imam Mahdi (P) Birthday and the 34th anniversary of establishing Imam Mahdi Scouts, Sayyed Nasrallah congratulated the Muslims and Christians on the holidays, stressing the importance of preserving those holidays despite the terrorist attacks which are moving from one country to another, including Yemen and occupied Palestine.
His eminence clarified that the followers of all the heavenly religions agree on the concept of the emergence of a savior, despite the differences over his identity, adding that this concept gives people hope to confront oppression.
âHowever, despair leads to surrender and loss.â
Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that if the Palestinians did not remain hopeful, Trump would impose the âDeal of the Centuryâ on them, adding that hope and trust in God have enabled them to challenge all the worldâs tyrants....
