Canadian MPs relaunch Palestine-focused Parliamentary Group
May 18, 2018, 8:48 p.m.
We talked with author and activist, Yves Engler, about his new article "Ottawaâs foreign policy swamp, an unhealthy quagmire".
In his article, Yves talks about the 17 internationally-focused associations and groups in the Canadian Parliament and what they reflect about power relations in the world. All these parliamentary bodies are partially supported and funded by the government. One of these groups is focused on Israel, no group is dedicated to Palestine.
But, recently, a group of parliamentarians launched their own Palestine-focused group on a voluntary basis, and in March, the group organized a trip to Palestine for Canadian MPs.

Overcoming Zionism: our interview with the late Joel Kovel
May 18, 2018, 3:07 p.m.
This past week we lost a great champion of Palestinian rights, namely Dr. Joel Kovel, who passed away. Kovel was a sharp critic of Zionism, and his meticulously researched books, articles and lectures made him a target of the pro-Israel propaganda machine.
Kovel delved deeply into a variety of disciplines, ultimately writing books on several. This breadth is explored at length by Wikipedia's description of his life work https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Kovel).
In the context of the then-recent damning report by the internationally respected Justice Goldstone, a self-proclaimed Zionist, and the Orwellian response of our so-called leaders in the U.S., we decided to do an in-depth interview with this famed Jewish professor. His then-recent book is Overcoming Zionism: Creating a Single Democratic State in Israel/Palestine (2007). This seems to have gotten him fired from his longtime professorship at Bard College.
We present that interview again today, slightly edited. The interviewers were our colleagues John Grebe and Ken Barney. You will hear the passionate voice of This Week In Palestine's originator, Sherif Fam, at the beginning and end, may he rest in peace.

Out of the Woods - Show #424 - 5-26-18
May 17, 2018, 8:06 a.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length.
Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul
