Donald Drumpf Theatre Vol. 36
Sept. 20, 2017, 1:20 p.m.
Donald Drumpf Theatre Vol. 36 Overheard in a Restaurant. An original radio theatre show each week, with most sounds culled from the previous week, about a fictional, theatrical presidency. Contradictions tell the story, with songs, skits, and clips from political news shows and late-night comedy routines. The definition of "radio theatre" is stretched here, with an updated Dickie Goodman and/or Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style sometimes, and a more straightforward take other weeks. Currently, the network has ordered another 15 episodes, but there are threats of cancellation. Anyone who would like to contribute to the show, should contact info@wgxc.org.

Renegade Economists Marilyn Waring, Kate Raworth and Elinor Ostrom (Part ONE)
Sept. 19, 2017, 5:31 p.m.
This is the beginning of a TUC Radio mini series on how to resist the demands of permanent economic growth and protect the earth, indigenous communities, local agriculture and women. Here first is the archive edition of Who's Counting, Marilyn Waring on sex, lies and global economics based on the audio of the film by Terre Nash.
Marilyn Waring was shocked and dismayed when she learned that all countries that are members of the UN are forced to keep their books and design their budgets under the United Nations System of National Accounts (SNA). This GDP system counts only cash transactions in the market and recognizes no value other than money. This means there is no value to peace and to the preservation of the environment.
At age 22 (in 1974) Marilyn Waring became the youngest member of the New Zealand Parliament. She chaired the prestigious Public Expenditures Committee and became familiar with the Gross Domestic Product system and decided to disclose its pathologies in a film, her teachings at AUT University in Auckland and really her life as a feminist economist. The film, "Who's Counting" traces her quest to explore how the fate of women and of the earth are impacted by the deadly pursuit of economic growth.
Marilyn Waring is best known as the author of a book on women in the world economy entitled: "If Women Counted" to this day a persuasive and vivid argument against endless economic growth.
Coming up next an update: Thirty Years Later: Are Women Still âCounting for Nothingâ? â with Marilyn Waring.

Next, we speak to Zoe Loftus-Farren about her Earth Island Journal piece that exposes the multitude of environmental hazards created by the prison industrial complex and America's unhealthy addiction to locking people up.

Rashid Khalidi on Palestine in the Age of Trump
Sept. 18, 2017, 6:21 p.m.
Today we feature a speech given by Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi during Columbiaâs Anti Apartheid Rally, March 1st, 2017. His topic: Palestine in the Age of Trump. First Khalidi is introduced, then he presents. We apologize for the harsh audio distortion in that recording. We'll replace it if we can find a better one.
But first, we read a speech on commonality delivered at a rally in Chicago by Lesley Williams, an Afro-American of the Jewish Faith and member of Jewish Voice for Peace. He calls out the so-called Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for its extensive spying on Muslim, Arab, anti-apartheid and other political activists. It was also revealed that the ADL spied on and passed information to South African authorities on African National Congress leader Chris Hani, shortly before his assassination.
He continues: "So I ask my white Jewish friends and family: is the perceived safety of people who look like you worth the continued oppression, incarceration and murder of people who look like me?"
Williams hopes that the obscenity of Charlottesville will lead all Americans to examine their complicity in tolerating institutional oppression. But in particular, Jewish Voice for Peace calls on our own Jewish community to condemn and disavow our organizational support of racism and Islamophobia, both past and present.
