We describe idiot child liberals who think that James Comey is a good guy just because he stood up to the Rump. We describe the difference between fiction and reality (i.e. fiction must be believable whilst reality does not suffer that restriction), we describe the reality of Reality, and we describe the Rumpâs habit of making major policy decisions with his eyes wide shut. We wax dialectical about the police â and for the feature piece this week we describe a new gene-editing technology called âCRISPRâ that makes genetic engineering tools available to the âcommon manâ.
Crazy stuff this week. Together we travel an enigmatic yet educational path.

Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. Dr. Aaron Thierry: The Brutal Logic of Climate Change (TWO of TWO)

In this part TWO of his talk Thierry presents a long list of actions that can be taken to keep the planet livable. He focuses on the so-called carbon budget. Since there is a clear understanding that rise in temperature and in emissions are directly related we can now define how much CO2 we may emit before we hit the danger point. If we do not stop fossil fuel burning we will warm the planet to up to 7 1/2 degrees by 2100 - which will be the end of life.
According to the brutal logic of climate change humans on this planet may only extract, process and use a small amount of the remaining coal oil and gas deposits in order to keep warming under 2 degrees. As societies we need to carefully evaluate what exactly should be built with the remaining carbon budget as the rest of coal, oil and gas must be left underground.
Are we going to use that precious carbon budget for more pipelines, airports, high rises, roads and factories that make useless stuff - or do we build the windmills, solar arrays and the new renewable infrastructure.
Dr. Aaron Thierry received his PhD in Ecology from the University of Sheffield and researched the impacts of global warming on the carbon cycle in Arctic ecosystems. He now spends much of his time lobbying for political action to reduce carbon emissions.
