Donald Drumpf Theatre Vol. 21
June 7, 2017, 6:23 p.m.
Donald Drumpf Theatre Vol. 21 Give Paris One More Chance. The show is a make-believe listen to what might happen if a reality television star became the leader of the free world. The show features news clips and songs cut in a way similar to Dickie Goodman, with a Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style. Contributions are welcome to info@wgxc.org. It's a fake news show about the absurdity of the past week that's actually radio theatre, so the news is true.

Marianchild, Kate: The Unique Oak Woodlands of California
June 6, 2017, 8:32 p.m.
To many of us who live in California, oak woodlands may seem rather ordinary. In reality, that is not the case. Oak woodlands are home to more species of plants, fungi, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects and mammals than any other terrestrial ecosystem in the California.
In this edition of Radio Curious, we visit with Kate Marianchild, author of Secrets of the Oak Woodlands: Plants & Animals Among Californiaâs Oaks, and she describes how acorn woodpeckers, manzanita, newts, the western fence lizard, and woodrats, among others, live and survive together in a symbiotic ecosystem.

The Background to Two Major Crises: Kashmir and Qatar
June 6, 2017, 6:06 p.m.
Two nuclear-armed powers, Pakistan and India are at loggerheads over how to resolve the longstanding issue of Kashmir, a holdover problem from the time of British colonial rule. There is barely any media coverage and the Indian army has the population in lockdown. Something has to give.
In the Persian Gulf a new crisis has emerged with small but wealthy Qatar refusing to properly echo the Saudi-Trump war alliance against Iran.
Naomi Klein: No Is Not Enough (TWO of TWO)
June 6, 2017, 5:12 p.m.
This is the conclusion of a one hour speech by Naomi Klein about her June 2017 book, No Is Not Enough. It was specifically written as response to what she describes as Donald Trump's corporate political takeover.
In spite of her scathing criticism Naomi Klein writes with an empowering optimism: She says that "Trump is making the need for systemic change seem much more obvious and appealing. "The No to Trump, she says, may be what brings people into the streets, but the Yes keeps us together into the future.
Her new book, No Is Not Enough, shows how to define that YES and what she calls the resurgence of the utopian imagination. Naomi Klein describes in detail the Canadian effort by 60 movement leaders and organizers to write the Leap Manifesto. They met for two days in September 2015. In what they admit were difficult negotiations they agreed on 15 demands. They can be found on the web site: leapmanifesto.org
The award-winning journalist, syndicated columnist, film maker and author Naomi Klein was the keynote speaker at the Living Future conference in Seattle, WA, on March 19, 2017.
John Wilson: Finance of the Future
June 6, 2017, 3:19 p.m.
Many sports fans are familiar with this dilemma: do I want my team to put everything on the line to win now or would I prefer that my team take its time and try to methodically build a long term successful franchise? This is very similar to the quandary that investors, stakeholders and management at some of the world's most powerful companies find themselves facing. This week on Sea Change Radio, we speak to John Wilson, the head of Corporate Governance for Cornerstone Capital. Wilson and host Alex Wise discuss how managers balance trying to please dividend-hungry shareholders with keeping an eye on the future, how automation will affect the global economy, and how all of this is ultimately an issue of sustainability.

Tom Suarez on How Terrorism Created Modern Israel
June 5, 2017, 7:59 p.m.
Tom Suarez has written an important book exploring the roots of Zionism, a history largely denied by mainstream Zionists because of its dependence on terrorism to advance its agenda against the Palestinian people. The book is meticulously documented from British military archives, but despite its authenticity, Suarez is attacked almost everywhere he speaks or tries to speak. The accepted Zionist history and narrative that is proclaimed today is largely based on myth that cannot be documented from historical archives, yet those who present the documented true story, like Tom Suarez, are pilloried and called anti-Semites. It is a dark story of deceit, terrorism and the exploitation of Jewish refugees and holocaust survivors.
Our feature presentation today is Tom Suarez discussing his book, "State of Terror: How Terrorism Created Modern Israel," at the Palestine Cambridge Forum at the Argyle Street Coop in Cambridge, England.

#483 -- The Backlash Against Women (R)
June 5, 2017, 5:53 p.m.
Jennifer Roesch explores the apparent contradiction in our culture: rampant hypersexualiztion and commodification of women but also increasing repression of women's sexuality. In combatting the former, she argues, we should not promote the latter. Let's not recreate the 1950s--the late 1960s are a better model of progress and liberation.
For Roesch, the ultimate cause of both sleaze and repression is capitalism run amok. And we can't have sexual freedom without social and economic freedom.

Left Forum 2017 - Friday Opening Plenary
June 5, 2017, 3:06 p.m.
As crony capitalists and corporate behemoths work to suck the last iota of profits and resources from a planet in crisis, they make intensified use of strategies like border walls, militarized policing, surveillance, incarceration, deportation, and the racism that garners support for them, to repress and re-channel dissent. But today we also see the rise of movements that challenge these repressive institutions and discourses, linking them with the exploitation they enable and with racial, gender, and class politics at home. Join us as we explore these obstacles, as well as, the movements and strategies that have been employed to challenge them
