Fidel's revolutionary work has established a strong and capable leadership in Cuba
Dec. 14, 2016, 5:21 p.m.
The reality of the Cuban revolution has always been denied by the Western colonial powers, who work to distort or deny what has been accomplished under Fidel.
Now, with his passing they cling to their old ways. In the new period of uncertainty, from Obamaâs weak gestures to Trumpâs bumptiousness, the Cuban leadership will be ready for whatever unfolds 90 miles away.

Diana Johnstone views US, Europe, Russia, Syria from Paris!
Dec. 14, 2016, 12:47 p.m.
In a wide ranging conversation Jeff Blankfort speaks with Diana Johnstone in Paris that takes in the Western war on Syria in which she points out that its destruction, not regime change, is the goal, with Israel and Saudi Arabia being the beneficiaries; how the press coverage of Syria is more censored than it was in Vietnam; how the situation in Aleppo was described as another Srebrenica from the very beginning.
Johnstone finds the accusations that Russian hacking of the Democrats gave Trump the victory to be laughable and represent the political, cultural and intellectual decline of the US; that the accusations are a desperate act on the part of the warmongers, who were represented by Clinton and who refuse to accept a Trump victory because he is not part of their plans.
She notes how identity politics has degraded the US political scene, with Obama as the first Black president intended to be followed by Clinton as the first woman president.
She refers to France as a US satellite and notes that National Front candidate Marine Le Pen has moved the party to the left and has a more friendly view of Russia and Putin than do the other candidates for the French presidency, particularly Francois Fillon who has an ultra reactionary social agenda.. And there is much more.
Jeff Blankfort/NewsOp:CIA Fakes News on Russian Hacking
Dec. 14, 2016, 12:24 p.m.
Blankfort opens with brief critique of Trumpâs cabinet choices then shifts to exposing CIAâs contrived allegations of Russian interference in US presidential election, ignoring fact that it was the Democratic National Committee that did the interfering, sabotaging the Sanders campaign, and he chastises alternative media for going along with mainstream media in accepting it.
He notes that rather than criticizing DNC chair Wasserman Shultz for doing that. Clinton made her honorary chair of her (happily) failed campaign.
Blankfort notes that even if Russians did the hacking, it would be chump change compared to the history of US interference in foreign elections and its overthrowing of democratically elected governments.
He also points out that both the Russians and Julian Assange had good reasons to want Clinton defeated, Russia because she was pushing for policies that would lead to war and Assange because she wanted him taken out by a drone.
He reviews history of Russian ties to Crimea and to its port of Sebastopol and accuses the mainstream media of lying about Russian aggression, Russian invasion and how it hides news that most Europeans oppose sanctions on Russia and see it as no threat. He singles out NPR for playing its assigned role of National Propaganda Radio for the intelligentsia for more than three decades, by presenting official spokesperson for US foreign policy and never its critics.
He closes with reports of Israelâs receipt of first of 50 F-35 fighters, paid for by US taxpayers and $600 million from US âdefenseâ budget for Israelâs benefit while appropriating only $170 million for repairing Flint, Michiganâs lead tainted water supply.

Faster than forecast: The story ice tells about climate change
Dec. 13, 2016, 7 p.m.
At years' end 2016 denial of climate change is being promoted at the highest level of the incoming Trump administration in the US. This in spite of the fact that even the coldest parts of planet earth are now warming at an unprecedented rate.
Professor Jason Box is one of the worlds experts on the Greenland ice sheet. He is professor in glaciology at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland. He moved to Denmark to be closer to the one field of study that he is dedicated to with a kind of passion and sense of responsibility that is unusual for a tenured Professor. While working at the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State University from 2002-2012 he began field work on the Greenland ice and has made over 20 expeditions since 1994.
He spent more than one year on Greenland ice as a result of these expeditions, was for five consecutive years (2008-2012) the lead author of the Greenland section of NOAAs annual State of the Climate report, and was a contributing author to the IPCCs fourth assessment report. Jason Box is even known in popular science through his participation in the movie Chasing Ice.
Film maker James Balog said that the mission of Chasing Ice was to change history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. With a team of helpers, Balog began deploying time-lapse cameras across Greenland and the Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the worlds melting glaciers.
In early October 2016 Prof. Jason Box gave a talk in Copenhagen at the opening of a lecture series called Science and Cocktails. The organizers wanted him to explain the physical causes of the melting of the ice sheet and why the current computer models fail to explain the quite frightening acceleration of the Greenland melt.

He will be talking about about Trump, flag worship, and the murderous drone war.
How We Fight Back: Part I
Dec. 13, 2016, 5:26 p.m.
All over the world people who care about the environment are watching the US President-Elect sketch out a blueprint for disaster. To head the EPA he has tapped a man who demonstrates open disdain for the very agency he would be running, and for Department of Energy Chief his choice is a guy who announced on a national stage that that department should be dismantled. Itâs no wonder climate scientists around the country are scrambling to back up their research data, fearing it might vanish in the years ahead. Signs point to an incoming Administration that will undo hard-fought progress on all environmental fronts. But this week on Sea Change Radio, we talk to two political organizers who have written a roadmap for how we fight back. We hear from Becky Bond and Zack Exley, two senior advisers from the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign and authors of the new book, âRules For Revolutionaries: How Big Organizing Can Change Everything.â We discuss Sandersâs dark horse candidacy, extract lessons learned, and talk about strategies that could be applied to the environmental struggle moving forward.
