Equal Opportunity Librarian Suspended
April 28, 2017, 9:18 p.m.
Lesley Williams, Head of Adult Services at the Evanston Public Library was met by a crowd of more than 50 supporters who rallied to her cause outside a hearing room ahead of a disciplinary hearing at the Evanston, Illinois Civic Center. Some thought the charges she was placed under suspension for actually masked other issues problematic to the community, the library board and the leadership of the current library Director, Karen Danczak Lyons. Others were incredulous as to the accusations made by Director Lyons who has herself been
remote in relating to and meeting the needs of Evanston's Black residents according to a public letter written by Tiffany Rice of the Dajae Coleman Foundation. Both long time friends and Evanston new comers speak at random about their
reasons for attending the rally which was organized on short notice.

Building Trades Activists Protest of Trump; Spectrum Cable Workers on Strike
April 28, 2017, 3:14 p.m.
Building Trades Activists Break Mold in Protest of Trump
with
Gretchen Newsom, Political Director, IBEW Local 569, San Diego
Building Trades activists from Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 569 knew they had to do something. We couldnt let him come and speak to us and just sit there, said William Stedham, an executive board member of the local. If we hadnt, everyone would think that the Building Trades was on board with him 100 percent, and were not. So a few minutes
into his speech, the workers stood up with signs that said Resist and turned their backs on the billionaire-in-chief. The gesture flew in the face of a directive from Building Trades leadership that attendees should be on their best behavior. Demonstrators included the political director and business manager of the Local as well as the president and political
director of the San Diego Building Trades. Interestingly, the media present failed to cover the protesters or when the in the Security snatched their signs and yanked them out of the room, but rather projected to the public what seemed to be unanimous support for Trump.
The activists were furious over Trumps appointment to a key role in his
Department of Labor a top lobbyist from the anti-union Association of Building Contractors and that former Heritage Foundation staffer James Sherk is now the White House Domestic Policy Councils labor and employment adviser. Sherk has written endless articles attacking union
workers. The things weve been fighting hard for"more project labor agreements, more local-hire agreements, and better training and workplace safety"none of them are being supported by the Trump
administration, said Gretchen Newsom, political director of Local 569.

Escalation of Tensions in Syria: One Month after the Chemical Attack in Khan Sheikhoun
April 28, 2017, 12:10 p.m.
On this week's Global Research News Hour, we recap some of the major incidents affecting Syria over the month of April 2017.
We hear from Ray Mcgovern, a former US Army Infantry.Intelligence officer and representative of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity about the case contradicting the claim of a chemical weapons attack by the Syrian military against residents of a village in the Idlib Governate. McGovern also explains how the NeoCons in Washington have manipulated Trump into his policy reversal on Syria.
We then hear interviews with Patrick Henningsen, a journalist in Syria, about the chemical agent deaths, the recent massacre of over 100 refugees evacuated from two villages near Aleppo, and the distorted coverage by the West of events in the beleaguered country. Finally, we hear unaired audio from an April 1st interview with Mahdi Nazemroaya relating to Turkish President Erdogan's ambitions in the region, and in particular its inconsistent stance toward the Kurdish population in Syria, Iraq and within its own borders.

Out of the Woods - Show #369 - 5-5-17
April 27, 2017, 6:57 p.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length.
Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul
