The International Criminal Court has been exposed as an instrument of the old colonialist powers
Dec. 8, 2016, 1:49 p.m.
The ICC was concocted when the US was settling in as âindispensableâ nation and the former colonies, especially in Africa, were going to be made to surrender sovereignty to a court in Europe. Washington would indicate who should be tried, the ICC would be an instrument of regime change. But the imperial world is coming under stress.
After humiliating experiences with international justice, African countries such as Namibia, Burundi, and Kenya are leading an exodus from the phony court.

Nationwide Strike - $15 & Union
Dec. 7, 2016, 5:18 p.m.
We Wont Back Down says The Fight for $15, Strike Nationwide!
featuring
. Isaias Sapon, McDonald's worker, Texas
. Rob Hill, VP and Organizing Director of 32BJ
As newly-elected politicians and newly-empowered corporate special interests threaten an extremist agenda to move the country to the right, working Americans announced that their 4-year-old Fight for $15 will not back down & that any efforts to block wage increases, gut workers rights or healthcare, deport immigrants, or support racism or racist policies, will be met with unrelenting opposition. To show their determination in the face of the seismic shifts in the political climate, workers in the Fight for $15 waged their most disruptive protests yet, expanding their movement to nearly 20 airports serving 2 million passengers a day, and risking arrest via mass civil disobedience in front of McDonalds restaurants from Detroit to Denver. Workers spanning the economy"including baggage handlers, fast-food cooks, home care workers, child care teachers and graduate assistants" demand $15 and union rights, no deportations, an end to the police killings of black people, and politicians keep their hands off Americans health care coverage.
Crisis in Syria - Panel at Purdue University
Dec. 7, 2016, 4:21 p.m.
The purpose of the panel was to present various perspectives about the current crisis and to inform attendees about the history and current happenings in Syria. Professor Artz lays out
some of the complexity that disappears in the corporate
media rendering of events which trend toward "humanitarian intervention". The two graduate students offer interesting analysis of how well known media techniques are used to shape perception in order to direct opinion toward some end.
Corporate media is first a money making venture and loath
to act against that interest if the truth interferes with the
interests of a benefactor or undercuts advertising or infotainment sales.
Communications graduate students, Christian Lutes, and Raquel Williams present critical analysis of news coverage and Netflix infotainment about Syria.
Professor Lee Artz moderates.

Western powers foster religious conflict to hide political goals in Syria, and are losing
Dec. 6, 2016, 10:05 p.m.
The US plan to bring down President Assad involved false stories of âArab Springâ peaceful demonstrations, and the incitement of Shia-Sunni conflict. Now the Syrian army is winning the battle for Aleppo, yet Western media are doubling down on the myth of sectarian division and blatantly ignoring the material basis for the popular support of Assad. Many in the left of Europe and America have been blinded by propaganda.
Meanwhile, revolutionary Cuba has remained in solidarity with Syria, as both countries face embargoes and sanctions for daring to challenge imperialism.

Winona LaDuke on Standing Rock
Dec. 6, 2016, 8:21 p.m.
On her way home from one of many visits to Standing Rock, the Native American activist and author Winona LaDuke stopped in Chicago and gave a talk at the Newberry Library to a standing room only audience.
Winona LaDuke lives on the White Earth reservation in northern Minnesota, and is working on climate change, renewable energy, and environmental justice. She is the founder of the White Earth Land Recovery Project, and Program Director of Honor the Earth.
Winona LaDuke's talk in Chicago was framed by her clear headed assessment of the extraordinary risk that the fracking oil boom and the network of pipelines pose to our survival she offered examples how to break free from our addiction to fossil fuels.
Winona LaDuke says that "this is a test of civil society. The question is where we are all going and how it's going to work out."
Ishema Party courageously challenges the dictatorial rule of Paul Kagame in Rwanda
Dec. 6, 2016, 4:58 p.m.
Leaders of the Ishema party of Rwanda have taken steps, inspired by the example of Victoire Ingabire, to return to their home country and enter the struggle for a truly democratic process where they can win popular support and replace the one-man rule of Paul Kagame. The Kagame regime was so frightened by the news that Ishema leaders were planning to board a plane in Nairobi, that they notified the airline that these passengers would not be allowed in the country.

We also hear Newsomâs ideas on the future of public transportation, including self-driving vehicles, his thoughts on the ongoing drought, and why he is not particularly hopeful for the Delta Tunnels Project.

Dec. 6, 2016, 3:26 p.m.
This dispatch begins with a conversation between TheAngryindian and radio talk-show host Bob Kincaid of Head-on-Radio (headonradionetwork.com) where they discuss the persistent efforts of the far-right in the United States, using Donald Trump as a springboard, to intimidate Liberals; Progressives and every non-European in the United States in their bid to dominate North American politics in favour of Pro-Europocentric favouritism and neoliberal über-capitalist exploitation of Third and Fourth World economic and human resources. The rest of the programme is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Fidel Castro Ruz, the retired Presidente de Cuba, via an archived address in Harlem, New York City USA from 1995. EXTRA: Musical dedication with lyrics by Cuban singer Raúl Torres - 'Cabalgando con Fidel' (Riding with Fidel)

Syrian forces are defeating Western-sponsored terrorists
Dec. 6, 2016, 10:06 a.m.
The fast-paced offensive of the Syrian army and its allies has caught Washington, London, and Paris unprepared and their media are still dreaming up absurd stories about civilian casualties and 7 year-olds sending jihadist enabling tweets.
