Real World Radio
Who are we (in spanish below) Real World Radio (RWR) is a multilingual radio on the web, functioning in the auspices of the communication area of the environmentalist group Friends of the Earth International (FoEI). RWR was born in September 2003, during the World Trade Organization's Fifth Ministerial Conference, as an initiative to increase and support the resistance towards the event. From that moment on, the radio has carried out many coverage and network broadcasts together with community radios from all over the world. Our main purpose is to report on the impacts of trade liberalization on the Third World countries. RWR reveals many ways in which local communities resist the ambitious politics of the transnational corporations. One of RWR's main goals is to create a space where community radios in the Americas and the world would exchange productions on sustainability and environmental issues. It also aims that social movements include communication rights as one of the issues on their agenda. Today, RWR is consolidated as a counter-hegemonic media for activists and grassroots social movements.
