Alan Brown is an economics graduate whos studied the evolution of the Common Market into the European Union closely, paying close attention to the economic impact its had on the continent in general and Britain in particular. This week we have been given a new government of the EU but neither the president or the commissioners have been elected. They are appointed instead by the Council of Europe, chaired by another appointee Donald Tusk. The EU is rightly criticised for providing a new political life for failed politicians, voted out by the European public. This is starkly the case with the appointment this week to the presidency of the Council of Europe of failed Belgian prime minister Charles Michel, who was forced out in December 2018 due to his support for economic migration into Belgium. Christine Lagarde, who is to become president of the European Central bank is a convicted fraudster in France, but instead of going to jail to serve her twelve month sentence, she will be going to Frankfurt to take charge of the ECB. None of these leaders have been elected but they all will be in charge of the key institutions which profoundly control the lives of around 800 million Europeans for the next five years.
Alan also looks at the way the Lisbon and Maastricht treaties have effected the vetoes member states are said to have on major EU policy decisions and explains that the veto does not operate in many areas of policy and has largely been succeeded by qualified majority voting.
People of Europe, meet your unaccountable new rulers.

Alex Krainer has had a good look at the way Russia was asset stripped under president Boris Yeltsin in the 1990s. Alex says a hard core of seven, out of a total of sixteen mainly Zionist Jewish oligarchs were trained in Switzerland specifically to carry out the task of privatisation of former Soviet infrastructure, services and manufacturing. Alex lives in Monaco and is the author of Grand Deception: The Truth About Bill Browder, the Magnitsky Act and Anti-Russian Sanctions (2018)
