Jamail talks about his lengthy investigation of climate change. Some conclusions: (1)The situation is even worse than you think. (2) to respond, we need to reject the European/imperialist mindset and partake of the wisdom of indigenous peoples.
In Part 2, Jamail summarizes the frightening statistics and more-frightening prognosis for life on earth.. He then explains how listening to the wisdo of indigenous peoples can shape our responses to the crisis.
Intro. by KD and a song by David Rovics.
Jamail spoke in Syracuse, New York, on April 11, 2019. The live recording--which I have edited and condensed slightly--is by Wilton Vought, producer of the series Essential Dissent (available on iTunes, YouTube, radio4all.net, and elsewhere). Many thanks.
New World Notes is produced under the auspices (Latin for "counter") of WWUH-FM, a community service of that beacon of light in darkest Connecticut, the University of Hartford.
For several years, independent journalist Dahr Jamail--who won awards for his coverage of the Iraq War and occupation--has been investigating the global climate crisis. His conclusions are based on both his personal observations around the world and also extensive interviews--with top scientists and with ordinary people already suffering from the effects of climate change. His new book (2019) is titled, The End of Ice.
