Paul Rusesabagina has appeared in a court in Kigali, after mysteriously disappearing from the United Arab Emirates. Rusesabagina is a well-known critic of the Rwandan regime presided over by dictator Paul Kagame.
Phil talks to two members of the Rwandan Bridge Builders, Pierre-Claver Nkinambuzi and Gilbert Mwenedata about Rusesabagina's shocking abduction.
Though Paul Rusesabagina was at first regarded as a national hero subsequent to the release of the popular film "Hotel Rwanda," he later because a villain in the eyes of the Kagame regime after Rusesabagina became a critic of Kagame.
Paul Rusesabagina will not get a fair trial in Rwanda. He was a refugee in Belgium, and then became a Belgian citizen. Belgium, then, should demand that Rusesabagina be returned to Belgium, where the Rwandan government would have to follow due process in making a case for extradition.
