The Taliban provided security and assistance enabling the Americans and their allies to exit Kabul airport, but the arrogant and ideologically-driven Western media ignored the facts and reported the story as Marines facing Muslim fanaticism.

The danger in this self-centered narrative is that it easily becomes a pretext for renewed intervention.
