Phil comments on an article by Peter Beinart in the NYT warning of the danger posed by Biden and the Democratic Party in provoking the PRC over Taiwan. For example, Beinart points out that Biden invited a representative of the Taiwanese government to his inauguration.
Beinart warns that the U.S. abandonment of the "One-China Policy" is a recipe for war.
Biden's statement that, on his watch, China would never be allowed to become the largest economy in the world, is clearly a thinly-veiled threat.
Phil refers to CBC's "Marketplace" TV-show which aired a piece on tomato paste imported from China. Marketplace consulted notorious Christian-fundamentalist Adrian Zenz about his now-discredited views that China is involved in genocide of Uyghurs in Xinjiang. Zenz is a right-wing evangelist who is funded by the "Victims of Communism."
Marketplace went so far as to phone local Canadian merchants to ask them if they knew about the origins of the tomato paste. Despite its speculative talk about Chinese government intimidation of people, it is actually CBC Marketplace that has applied veiled threats and pressure to Canadian retailers, by putting them on the spot about Chinese products. Clearly, the CBC is poisoning the airwaves with anti-Chinese propaganda.
