Listen to an interview with Montreal independent journalist Stefan Christoff in Beirut, Lebanon. Christoff took part in an international delegation to Canadian Embassies around the world to demand that Palestinian refugees in Canada be granted status.
On Monday, August 15, activists in cities around the world, including Montreal, Toronto, New York, Beirut, Tel Aviv, London, and Amman, led delegations to Canadian embassies and consulates to address the situation of Palestinian refugees living in Canada.
The purpose of the delgation was to emphasize the two main demands of Palestinian refugee groups in Canada: an end to the deportations of Palestinian refugees, and status for all refugees.
In this report, Stefan Christoff speaks with us on the phone from Beirut, Lebanon. Christoff is an activist and independent journalist from Montreal, currently reporting from the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon. He took part in the delegation to the Canadian embassy of Beirut on August 15th.
Here, he speaks about recent changes on the Lebanese political landscape, the conditions under which Palestinian refugees in Lebanon live, and their global struggle as a stateless people.
