Listen to a phone interview with Andrea Schmidt, a Montreal-based activist currently in Haiti.
Produced for CKUT (90.3FM) community radio in Montreal by Aaron Lakoff.
Andrea Schmidt is an anti-imperialist activist and journalist based in Montreal. She is currently in Haiti with a small delegation of other Canadian independent journalists to look at the role that Canada has been playing since the Coup d'Etat against Jean-Bertrand Aristide of February 29, 2004.

Schmidt spoke to us on a cell phone in Cite Soley, a poor suburb of Port-au-Prince. September 30th marked the 14 year anniversary of the first USA-led coup against Aristide in 1991. This September 30th was the first time in those 14 years that a demonstration hasn't been held to mark that event. In fact, the PNH (Haitian National Police) have imposed a temporary ban on demonstrations.
