Full Program Description
On December 5, 2005 Former US Marine and UN Weapons Inspector in Iraq Scott Ritter spoke at the Venice United Methodist Church in Venice Beach California. Ritter is the author of the new book: IRAQ CONFIDENTIAL: The Untold Story of the Intelligence Conspiracy to Undermine the UN and Overthrow Saddam Hussein, published by NationBooks. The title of the presentation was HOW WE GOT INTO IRAQ AND HOW TO GET OUT.

Mr Ritter was joined in conversation by Lila Garrett, host of Connect the Dots, a radio program on listener-sponsored KPFK 90.7 FM, Pacifica Radio for Los Angeles and Southern California. The show can be heard live Monday mornings from 7 to 8 am on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles 98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, or online at kpfk.org. Archives of the show are also available at kpfk.org. The event was produced by U.S. Tour of Duty, a non-profit project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs that supports the anti-war advocacy of Iraq veterans, military families, policy analysts, and performers by organizing public forums, developing communication strategies, and producing video content. They can be reached online at ustourofduty.org.

The initial 45 minutes of the cd length version of the presentation deals with the U.S. policy of regime change in Iraq, the state of the war, and the potential for expansion of the policy of regime change and the war throughout the region, including Syria and Iran. He deals with the nuts and bolts of the pursuit of the policy of regime change in Iraq, and focuses in part on the origins of the policy, in particular, the role of the Clinton administration in this policy and the fact that it is an ongoing, unsustainable policy. After the first 45 min, a Q&A session ensues with remarkable frank assessments by Ritter on a number of important topics including imperialism, the role of racism in U.S. foreign policy, the 9-11 commission, and more.
