Karlene Faith has been a scholar, activist and advocate for prisoners rights for over 30 years. She is currently professor emerita of the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. She began her prison work in California in the early 1970's, where she co-founded the Santa Cruz Women's Prison Project. She is the author of several books including, UNRULY WOMEN: THE POLITICS OF CONFINEMENT & RESISTANCE. 13 WOMEN is a compilation of stories of women Karlene has met and interviewed over her 30 years of activism.
13 Women Parables From Prison is edited by Karlene Faith with Anne Near. It is published by Douglas Douglas & McIntyre (ISBN: 1553651421) and was released in April 2006.
