No major political figure, no major newspaper, has had the courage or the wisdom to say what should now be obvious, that we must withdraw our military from Iraq - and the sooner the better.
This program is about grassroots anti-war activism and the witty, radical and very timely analysis by a renowned international journalist. These days one has to travel to small abandoned logging towns to hear Alexander Cockburn speak. I recorded him in Fort Bragg on January 19, 2007
"No major political figure, no major newspaper, has had the courage or the wisdom to say what should now be obvious, that we must withdraw our military from Iraq and the sooner the better. The reason is simple, our presence there is a disaster for the US people and an even bigger disaster for the Iraqi people." (quote from CounterPunch)
Fort Bragg town hall was filled to capacity by an animated crowd of people who had come to hear Alexander Cockburn speak. What united and inspired everybody that night was that Mendocino County had overwhelmingly passed Measure Y during the last election. The slogan was: "End the Occupation of Iraq and Bring the Troops Home Now!"
