[5:32-15:19] RACIAL PROFILING STUDY
Since September 11 2001, our world is increasingly focused on security. People are under more surveillance and scrutiny by police, CSIS and other security personnel at airports, the border, and government offices. This increased security has amplified a culture of suspicion and racial profiling that particularly targets Muslim communities. A local organization, MARU, together with the University of British Columbia, is currently documenting experiences of people living under these heightened security practices. We speak with Alnoor Gova of MARU, an organization committed to exploring of the intersections between Migration, Art & Race. (www.maruworld.org)
