Listen to an interview with the Washington editor of Harpers Magazine Ken Silverstein, who recently published an article entitled, "Parties of God: The Bush doctrine and the rise of Islamic democracy", the article examines the current development of democracy in the Middle East within the context of the U.S. supported War on Terror, examining in detail the case of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Hamas in Palestine and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
This interview addresses a rage of topics concerning the role of Islamic movements in Middle East politics from pushing for democratic reforms, to their growing role in electoral politics as in the case of the most recent Parliamentary elections in Palestine and finally the affects of U.S. military policy in the Middle East on the establishment of democracy.
