Your support is essential if the service is to continue, there are bandwidth bills to pay every month and failing disk drives to replace. In an important but now little remembered address at American University in 1963, President Kennedy repudiated militarism and the military-industrial complex, declared global disarmament a practical goal and in the national interest, and announced some radical immediate steps he had ordered to start moving us from here to there. And you wonder why he was killed! NWN presents the speech itself intercut with excellent commentary and background by Jim Douglas (Part 2 of 2).
Kennedy speech archived at the Internet Archive (archive.org). Segments by Jim Douglas snipped from a long interview with Mike McCormick on "Mind Over Matters" (available here on A-Infos Radio Project). "New World Notes" produced at WWUH-FM, "Public Alternative Radio," at the University of Hartford. Feedback to kdowst at hotmail period calm.
Jim Douglas is the author of the recent book, "JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters."
Photo and cartoon illustrations add to the story. View them in the current newsletter or on the blog: http://newworldnotes.blogspot.com/
