âDoing timeâ .
That is an expression often used to describe serving a sentence in prison.
Living in an environment of institutional control, what choice do prisonerâs have about how they are doing time?
Alison Link argues that even, and maybe especially, in the environment of a prison, how people make choices can have a huge impact on their lives.
Alison is a leisure education consultant and teacher. She has been working with prisoners on the issues of time, leisure and agency for several years. She is currently working on a PhD that is exploring these connections.
Stark Raven speaks with Alison about her work with prisoners and philosophy on leisure.
