Start of new season! Jan Lundberg, former oil analyst. We talk Peak Oil, the coming energy shock, climate disruption, and the economic hit. Jan goes positive, with ways to get out and up. His blog. culturechange.org. Then, Alex asks "When will the human race go extinct?" Is that a contest, an extreme joke, or serious science? Contribute your own "doom date."

This is an early post of our 1st show for the Fall season, early due to coming holiday. I will also repost on Sunday, for radio stations getting their feed here.

Coming up on Radio Ecoshock - gonzo writer Joe Bageant on poor white trash in ecocide; Richard Heinberg's new book "Blackout" - (no, coal won't save fossil civilization); "real scientist" Alan Robock says ending blue skies not a good idea; Princeton's David Archer on "The Long Thaw"; from the UK, Jeremy Leggett says solar can do it; and author Christopher Steiner explores $20 a gallon gas at the pumps. Dark humor, new music, the usual anguish and glory.

First 41 minutes of this show, Jan Lundberg & Alex talk over the current mess. Jan was a serious oil and gas tracker, who chose activism on energy and the environment. He's part of a community of solutions, and test solutions, running from California up through Oregon, all along the West Coast.

People want out. But where is "out"?

Then Alex "reviews" John Doscher's speech, as broadcast on Unwelcome Guests. If you have seen or heard a "doom date" (prediction of a time when humans go functionally extinct) - send the reference or source to radio [at] ecoshock.org.
Contest ends on our last day on Earth. Help make a show?
