Your support is essential if the service is to continue, there are bandwidth bills to pay every month and failing disk drives to replace. Volunteers do the work, but disk drives and bandwidth are not free. We encourage you to contribute financially, even a dollar helps. Click here to donate.

IT WILL SOON BE THREE MONTHS SINCE A MILITARY COUP EXPELLED HONDURAS PRESIDENT ZELAYA FROM THE COUNTRY, AN ACT WHICH WAS SWIFTLY AND OVERWHELMINGLY CONDEMNED BY LATIN AMERICAN AND WORLD NATIONS, AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO WAY OUT OF THE CRISIS.

DAILY REPORTS OF LARGE STREET DEMONSTRATIONS
AND ROAD BLOCKS IN JULY FORCED THE OBAMA
ADMINISTRATION TO ALSO DISAVOW THE TAKEOVER,
BUT SINCE THEN A COMPLETE NEWS BLACKOUT
HAS BEEN IMPOSED BY THE COUP REGIME,
SUPPORTERS OF WHICH CONTROL MOST OF THE
MEDIAS, AND OTHER LOCAL OUTLETS HAVE BEEN S
HUT DOWN.

THIS PAST WEDNESDAY, THE BLUESTOCKINGS
BOOK STORE AND THE “WEEKLY UPDATE ON THE A
MERICAS” SPONSORED A TALK BY DR. DANA FRANK,
AUTHOR OF A BOOK ON THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN
BANANA WORKER UNIONS, WHO SPENT A DECADE
IN HONDURAS AND WAS THERE DURING THE
MILITARY TAKEOVER.
