The world is using existing oil reserves far faster than new oil is being discovered. Even if 2009 shapes up to be the most impressive year this decade for oil discoveries, discoveries will still fall far short of what the world consumes this year. Consumption has outpaced discoveries for nearly 30 years now. That’s not a situation that can last.
