On a more positive note, we celebrate the music of Perry Bechtel, the extraordinary guitarist and banjoist who helped design the Martin OM-28--the basis of the flattop acoustic guitars now played everywhere. (Many thanks to Paul Alcantara for sending me his excellent article on Bechtel in the October 2009 issue of Guitar Buyer magazine.)
