On November 3rd the workers at SK Hand Tools, members of Teamsters Local 743, called off their 10 week old strike. The soon after signed a contract saving their health care and pension benefits, though at the cost of serious wage cut. The workers who went out on strike originally because the company had canceled the health coverage without informing theme see the new contract as a victory and held a party to celebrate last Friday. Will here from the SK workers on tonightâs program why the think there decision to strike eventual brought them success.
On the International scene, the military coup in Honduras drags on after a U.S. brokered agreement to have Manuel Zelaya reinstated as the legimate president fell apart over the past couple weeks. While here from Alexy Lanza od La Voz de los de Abajo about the situation in Honduras as the Nov. 29th presidential elections draw ever closer.
Will also here about new emerging labor struggles in the Chicago area, one involving member of UE at the Bissel products warehouse in Chicagoâs southwest suburbs and one at Pain Dry Ice involving members of Teamsters Local 705.
