The process is underway to hire an architect to build Halifax's new central library, a $55 million project to be built at the corner of Spring Garden and Queen in the heart of Halifax's downtown. Are we going about it the best way? And will we see a world class design erected as the new library, or just a run of the mill municipal building? HRM manager of infrastructure Phil Townsend talks about the process underway and his confidence that it will yield a great new library. Local architect Peter Henry weighs in on his opinion of how the city is going about finding a designer, and his ideas on improving the process, including launching an international architectural competition.
