FORTY YEARS AGO, IN THE EARLY HOURS OF DECEMBER 4, 1969, THE CHICAGO POLICE RAIDED THE APARTMENT OF FRED HAMPTON AND KILLED HIM WHILE HE SPLEPT IN HIS BED. FRED HAMPTON WAS A NATIONAL LEADER OF THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY, ONE OF THE 1960’S REVOLUTIONARY ORGANIZATIONS TARGETED BY ILLEGAL FBI COINTELPRO OPERATIONS.
ON THE EVE OF THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS EVENT, THIS PAST THURSDAY, THE MALCOLM X GRASSROOT MOVEMENT, WITNESS AGAINST TORTURE, THE COALITION TO ABOLISH THE ANIMAL ENTERPRISE TERRORIST ACT AND THE WAR RESISTANCE LEAGUE SPONSORED A PANEL DISCUSSION AT COMMMUNITY CHURCH IN MANHATTAN ENTITLED: RACISM, REPRESSION AND RESISTANCE.
